It's MERYL STREEP Month !

Given that June is kicking off with the release of A Prairie Home Companion and ending with the release of The Devil Wears Prada which is (I predict) going to be a big big hit it's time for Meryl Streep Month. So throughout the month of June in between regular postings, actor countdowns, and interviews, I'll be throwing out some Meryl goodies for y'all.

Now I realize that technically June is Gay Pride Month but I think you probably already know that worship of grand actresses is kind of a crucial component of being a 'mo... so for the Film Experience June 2006 is now officially The Month of MERYL STREEP. If you have any feelings about this or anything in particular you'd like to see happen here in regards to that let me know in the comments.

So, to kick things off: Here's a video of the March 1983 Oscar Ceremony Best Actress section brought to you by my Oscar obsession, my new friend Tom's VHS collection (which I will be robbing from as much as possible) and You Tube.

Oh... and go see her new movie!

Does this mean there will be a Streep Blog-o-thon? If so, count me in. :)

Hmmmm. that's not a bad idea. Not sure if I have the strength to coordinate something enormous again though...

That Oscar footage is amazing! All of those incredible actresses looked so nervous, which endears them tremendously. It's pretty amazing how much more of a thing the Academy Awards have become (just look at those graphics! :-p). I keep forgetting it has been almost 25 years, but still the changes are remarkable. So when do we get to see Meryl's win for Kramer vs. Kramer?

How odd. Adam's doing his own Streepathon at the moment.

Streep all round.

A big thank you from one of the biggest Meryl fans there is ...

she is not only a great actress, but a great human being.. we are going to see "Prairie Home Compnaion" today... bought the soundtrack last week and it is great... she sings up a storm.

Looking forward to Devil Wears Prada.

If you go to the Simply Streep website, there is a first picture of her making the movie "Dark Matter".

I loved her in bridges of madison county, that's when i became a truly fan ofher, Also I remember a movie with De Niro ( not the Deer Hunter) where they meet in a library and then in a train and they try to find each other on the train, it's so corny bot so romantic.

anonymous --- i honestly think the oscars use to be way more suspenseful. the weird thing is Meryl was as much of a sure thing that year as any sure thing winner is... but they do look nervous, don't they?

i don't have the 1978 oscars on tape. this was a miracle find really.

Yeah, there were fewer precursor awards, so I guess naturally they'd be more suspenseful.

Yes, I am doing a Streepathon right now, total coincidence that it's happening during "Meryl month"... I also did a post about Meryl Streep Day last month.

Meryl's birthday is one day before mine. Woo! I am special.

Hugh Jackmans is one day before MINE (and I like to believe that means we're meant to be together)

Russell Crowe's is the same DAY as mine. I'd like a recount or an appeal if this means we're meant to be so much as in the same room together. Ugh.

Happy Birthday to Meryl and her new movies! May they be huge successes and not disappoint.

Meryl Streep is deserving of more than one month a few years ago. She is one the most amazing actors in Hollywood. Goo Streep!

Rather interesting place you've got here. Thanks for it. I like such themes and everything that is connected to them. I would like to read more on that blog soon.
