What a lovely movie this was! I saw it in its orig release at a tiny art house in Atlanta as a teenager. 'I've Heard the Mermaids Singing':)

  2. This is one of those films that I never got. I couldn't stand it. Too precious.

Patricia Rozema's 'I've Heard the Mermaids Singing'. It was in my first year-end Top 10 back in 1988, along with a lot of weird art-house fare I've not revisited (Nic Roeg's Track 29, anyone?). Would be very intrigued to see if I still loved it now...

Just seeing the photo of this on your blog this morning made me squeal out loud with pleasure. I haven't thought about this film in ages, and I enjoyed it so much when I saw it. Thanks for the memories!

What is that in the background? It looks like the CN Tower.
