I loved when Gabby's standing at the top, and Mary looks so uncomfortable having to look up to her.Bryannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-52402872841507866332010-02-25T21:06:01.452-05:002010-02-25T21:06:01.452-05:00Definitely a good interview, Nathaniel. So different to the usual ones we read.

I was glad you mentioned the production design too since there were some scenes in that movie where I coulda sworn they were actually filmed in 1987, just the look of them was so authentic. Those street scenes, actually, didn't look like 2008 (which was when it was filmed, obvs) at all.

I'll definitely be checking out what he does next, although I thought he was doing Miss Saigon. Shadowboxer was horrendous, but there was so much going on in there that it also quite fascinating.Glennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08194113062830373898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-34485209757823920282010-02-25T17:50:30.824-05:002010-02-25T17:50:30.824-05:00WHY does Precious have backlash? Daniels is a great get, and you two seemed to have a genuinely good rapport, on page anyway.

Secondly, I'm glad that you discussed the production design, because I too feel that it has been overlooked unfairly.Nate Tysonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15001118772198572798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-54499040973115434402010-02-25T17:10:10.783-05:002010-02-25T17:10:10.783-05:00Yeah, that was great! And the fact that he didn't hesitate to give Gabby all the credit for her performance.

If I want to be nasty, I would say that he is not that experienced to be invited to film classes. I don't want to experience this one on TV.

I haven't seen the film yet - but the "backlash" mystifies me. Maybe I'll understand better, but even in the Oscar discussion you just had, when people diss on the film, or diss on him, they blame him for everything they dislike about the film and give him no credit for what works (ie the performances.) No matter how good an actor is, it's still basically the directors vision in any given case, is it not?Janicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08049113750769117163noreply@blogger.com
