"Is that any way to talk to your mother?"

I was particularly enamoured with Charlize in The Road. I don't if it was just me, but it was one of my favourite supporting performances form last year (limited or otherwise). (so obviously, Viggo for hero of the year)

(Off topic, but oh my, wasn't Meryl Streep something special in The Fantastic Mr. Fox...if I was going on line readings her "We die, unless you change." always makes me lose it, and she gives the best reading of the "I'm pregnant line" ever. Weird that my favourite performance of hers since The Hours was just her voice...)Andrew K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01104647944747041277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-56770460622564488442010-05-31T23:47:51.071-04:002010-05-31T23:47:51.071-04:00anon 6:45 -- clearly i have gone senile as she'...anon 6:45 -- clearly i have gone senile as she's only one of my favorite young actresses in the world. have fixed.

anon 10:12 -- judging on many comments I'd received this year, I'm guessing i'm in the minority about The Messenger but I wasn't wowed by any of the individual notification scenes, especially not Buscemi's which struck me as too much of an acting exercize. Those scenes only got to me collectively. I was much more entranced with the central three characters.

volvagia -- i thought Rogen was pretty terrific in Observe and Report so if i had a golden globes type ballot i would maybe have voted for him in comedy.NATHANIEL Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11597109147678235399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-65693170317955120912010-05-31T22:12:47.290-04:002010-05-31T22:12:47.290-04:00and steve buscemi for the messenger?and steve buscemi for the messenger?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-83115084886260764642010-05-31T20:28:54.157-04:002010-05-31T20:28:54.157-04:00yes, meryl streep had a fabulous year.yes, meryl streep had a fabulous year.brandznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-68950307186358944892010-05-31T19:26:13.814-04:002010-05-31T19:26:13.814-04:00That is, if I actually had a blog. That is, if I actually had a blog.Volvagianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-68931459627513519162010-05-31T19:25:32.903-04:002010-05-31T19:25:32.903-04:00Yeah, maybe Jake Sully out and Rockwell in Moon in...Yeah, maybe Jake Sully out and Rockwell in Moon in. What was that movie but a 90 minute hero's origin? As well, I would add Anti-Heroes to the fun mix every year. There's enough cinema about anti-heroes to justify such a category. (In the Loop's a parade of them (George Miller's masochistic bravery, Toby's "stop the war" affair, Malcolm's incessant profanity and anger), but Observe and Report would be, I think, the blatant winner for Best Anti-Hero if you decided to hand out that prize. That no one nominated Rogen for actor in a comedy is natural, yet sad (ungimmicky dark comedy turns never get much attention, even in retrospect.))Volvagianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-90588104143879971772010-05-31T18:45:06.255-04:002010-05-31T18:45:06.255-04:00it's Ari Graynor, not Ari Gold! great listit's Ari Graynor, not Ari Gold! great listAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-12278393877838279302010-05-31T18:31:44.229-04:002010-05-31T18:31:44.229-04:00Best Cameo Actor/Actress: I agree.

If it weren't for Mo'Nique and Waltz, I'd probably have given Keener and Duvall the wins, too. Stunning limited performances.

And the obvious choice for rescuing hero is Coraline. She's smart, sarcastic, and has awesome blue hair. Other Mother may be my inspiration here, but she ain't got nothing on The Fabrication Machine.
