I was hoping for it, but thought it seemed very unlikely

Looks like Manville is getting left behind. And Ruffalo should have been nominated, they could have nominated him for Best Lead Actor as well, since that catagory is full of rubbish.

Anyway in terms of Eckhart. I saw Rabbit Hole a couple of days ago, and while he was good, I felt like he over did it a bit, unlike Kidman, who was subtle enough to be great, adn Weist, who was pitch perfect in a small role. I was also impressed with Miles Teller, though he seems to be forgotten.

Also I just watched Dexter, and I don't know what Stiles is doing here, She wasn't bad, but i can hink of so many more deserving people.Broooookenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-42144967385979912002010-12-14T15:37:25.437-05:002010-12-14T15:37:25.437-05:00Congrats to Halle Berry on getting that much-neede...Congrats to Halle Berry on getting that much-needed boost. The only thing I could come up with was that Jennifer Connelly and Rachel Weisz, rumored for the leads roles ten years ago, would be good but not as good as natalie and Mila were. And Mila's experience in comedy helped a lot. And I'm actually thankful for her and other girls their generation who dip their foot into comedy because it helps them radiate even in their dramatic roles i.e. Emma Stone. Sorry for the tangent.

I gave up on Greenberg a long time ago, which is sad. If that movie doesn't show up on my best list, y'all have my permission to slap me.

Also nest egg for Conviction. And of course, earlier releases like Michael Shannon for Runaways, Shutter Island (flawed but pretty), and even Hot Tub Time Machine, which is funnier than Red and The Tourist can ever be combined.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-23635745802596047802010-12-14T13:32:15.927-05:002010-12-14T13:32:15.927-05:00The scarier thing is-Depp as the Hatter could win....The scarier thing is-Depp as the Hatter could win. So much of Black Swan is Nina's subjective reality, which is harsh, dark, dour, and frightening, and then there's Lily. She makes it ok to laugh. Her presence reassured me of this on-going, grounded existence outside of Nina's pathology. I was excited to see her every time she came on screen. Now, one could argue that this has absolutely nothing to do with Kunis's talent as an actress, but I imagine it was incredibly challenging to maintain the ambiguity of Lily's intentions, which is imperative to the success of the film. We must always be just as suspicious of and drawn to her as Nina is. In other words, I don't view her role as significantly or objectively less challenging than Portman's. Additionally, she was forced to be this beacon of breeziness, warmth, and casual sensuality amidst an allegedly grueling and immensely serious film set. So much of what tonal complexity there was is dependent upon her strength and restraint as an actress. She didn't even over-do it. I saw the movie the second day it came out, and I remember going into it thinking, "I wonder why the other main character hasn't been getting much notice at all," only to be pleasantly surprised by Kunis's well-executed portion of the White Swan/Black Swan dichotomy.

At the same time, I suppose I am surprised, because Kunis is viewed more as a sex symbol than a serious actress, and I totally get your reaction to this sudden momentum, especially because it's hard to seem awards-y with all that crying and violence and seriousness everywhere else. As we all know, awards groups tend towards the tears and the screaming and whatnot. I mean, she's in a film with Winona and B-Hersh for God's sake! Not to mention Portman. I just hope that this is a good sign for her career.Ryanhttp://creationishappiness.tumblr.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-88294418067542255532010-12-14T11:56:30.026-05:002010-12-14T11:56:30.026-05:00Oh boy, I was writing my fucking "China and S...Oh boy, I was writing my fucking "China and Sustainable Development" paper for hours and hours, and submitted it an hour after the dead line so I'm joining now...

... and I saw the nominations

... and I read the reactions

and I laughed so much, you people make me happy :D:D:D

P.S.
