If I recall correctly, she was only a couple years older than Lawrence Harvey, who played her son? And yet she was completely believable as his mother.Janicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08049113750769117163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-35945658270505360372009-03-02T12:53:00.000-05:002009-03-02T12:53:00.000-05:00Patty Duke was supporting?? It’s a shame she became a victim of the category fraud and lost her third Oscar nomination to Patty Duke who was co-lead in The Miracle Worker. Plus thanks to Meryl Streep we all know that not every actress could've played that part. Ms. Lansbury deserves to be recognized with an Honorary Oscar for her outstanding contribution to the art of film, but unfortunately I doubt it will ever happen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-79670160962797353912009-03-02T06:18:00.000-05:002009-03-02T06:18:00.000-05:00un francais -- this is THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATEway...un francais -- this is THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE

wayne b -- the movie is great. see it.NATHANIEL Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11597109147678235399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-78313164236571267922009-03-02T01:02:00.000-05:002009-03-02T01:02:00.000-05:00ok I don't know anything, but imdb only refers to ...ok I don't know anything, but imdb only refers to one angela lansbury's queen of diamond, a 2004 flick where she's credited for voice. The scenes describing the captivity of the American G.I.s is particularly chilling.

And yes, there have been performances better than Angela Lansbury's in the history of the cinema, but I don't have to take off my shoes to count them. I wish she'd been as welcomed onscreen as she was, later, on Broadway.

Coincidentally, I just realized that the 1945 Picture of Dorian Gray is finally out on DVD, with Lansbury as the innocent Sybil Vane.
