He is one of our finest actors, and I agree with him being on this list.

I would have put Philip Seymour Hoffman's quietly beautiful complexity in The Savages a bit higher on the list. You must really have not liked his singing. I actually thought his singing was quite good overall (though transparently amateurish at times, it was VERY expressive and lacking the pretense and overearnestness I find most Sweeneys to have).

Also VERY surprised Gordon Pinsent is nowhere to be seen. I thought he was as good as Christie (and more the lead), and since I Christie is clearly headed to AT LEAST a medal of some sort, this is very disappointing.

And did Sam Riley REALLY do his own singing? That's shocking to me. I remember thinking the whole time, "gosh, he's so good, but his voice is clearly higher than the dubbed singing voice" (kind of like Penelope's in Volver) and that kept taking me out of it. Is that really his voice? I'm shocked beyond shocked (and quite impressed).adam k.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13485604493059621307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-30091552768176977952008-01-17T13:03:00.000-05:002008-01-17T13:03:00.000-05:00Yeah Mortensen didn't impress me that much either....Yeah Mortensen didn't impress me that much either.
