Its independent and they have separate sections for GLBT, Shakespeare, Documentaries, AFI Top 100's and even a Criterion Collection section. But unfortunately they never have the movie I want :( Last week tried to rent "West Side Story" and some Boo-urns had it out for over two weeks already. Last night tried to rent "A Clockwork Orange" but nope!; was gone too.
Am I the only one who gets annoyed when video stores don't have the specific movie I want?
Silver Lining: They finally had "West Side Story" in. My "Michael Clayton" DVD has written under the Oscar Nominations list: "Best Actress in a Supporting Role - Laura Linney".

I mean, WHAT THE FUCK? Laura Linney? Where did that come from? Tilda was the only Oscar the film even won!

Also, because it got a lot of shit on the "10 Oscar nominees" post... "The Reader" is not that bad guys. It might be a little structurally off from the way the book should have been adapted, but I prefer it to any of the other Best Picture nominees. And even if you still hate "The Reader", lay off Stephen Daldry. I think to paint him as some Oscar suck-up who only wants to make prestige pictures for Oscar's sake is not only unfair, but wrong.Andrew Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09633362421284508483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-90999416837082000442009-06-26T22:58:34.600-04:002009-06-26T22:58:34.600-04:00well tyler perry didn't MAKE the movie. he'...well tyler perry didn't MAKE the movie. he's just presenting it. so don't worry.NATHANIEL Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11597109147678235399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-24215057773262983582009-06-26T21:14:43.142-04:002009-06-26T21:14:43.142-04:00O, sorry. I also can't help but think all the time 'damn, practically everyone in this cast is REALLY hot.'

I liked '500 days of Summer,' but I saw it at Seattle film festival with a Q&A with the director afterwards and the Q&A actually took it down a notch in my eyes. Someone asked the director about the use of words like 'bitch' and 'whore' in the movie, because they seemed so inconsistent with the rest of the tone & feel of the movie. His response was that 'guys are just like that' so it had to be included.

Umm. No. First of all any movie has the possibility of choosing what to present, and can ignore or highlight certain aspects of reality. Second, to use that as the reason in a movie that is so fanciful that the main character dances with a cartoon bird in one scene, and walks out onto a street that then turns into a drawing in another is the laziest excuse for gender-specific insults I have ever heard.Rebeccahttp://fffblog.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-72361932984747350162009-06-26T18:52:34.922-04:002009-06-26T18:52:34.922-04:00I think Julie Walters is really sweet...I think Julie Walters is really sweet...Cortnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-46546527029428430512009-06-26T18:47:13.141-04:002009-06-26T18:47:13.141-04:00I want to know how Naomi Watts chooses what movies...I want to know how Naomi Watts chooses what movies she's going to star in. I know there are all sorts of factors involves here but I've always found her career trajectory so strange. A few people seem to refer to her as "Queen of the Remakes" but that seems too simplistic somehow. King Kong, Funny Games, even The Ring weren't what I would call typical remakes. Part of me wishes she had more comic roles because she was ace in I Heart Huckabees.

"I'm sitting in my tree with the Dixie Chicks and they're making me feel better"Benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16411239841812587325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8256060.post-89273105709407772032009-06-26T18:37:24.421-04:002009-06-26T18:37:24.421-04:00P.S. I'm still gonna watch it since its anticipated to be good but I'm usually into movies with originality so I'm trying really hard to stay open-minded about this one. (500) days of summer looks slightly unique. I heard the dialogue is very clever and im into that but is the story really different. Its a romantic comedy (supposedly) without them staying together at the end. I've read they don't stay together and the trailer hints that too.
