Very interesting. I really need to see You Can Count on Me and thirteen, huh?

Still not convinced Jolie should be anywhere near that high.

Maggie Cheung - The Goddess from Hong Kong

    Tilda Swinton - LOVE her!

    Laura & Holly - yay!

Angelina - If only "Girl Interrupted" had been a 2000 movie...

Does this mean that Jennifer Connelly is in the Top 15? You can't really write her off, can you? I like her plenty ;-)

  3. 86ed. Apart from Requiem I've yet to be impressed.

  4. as for Jolie's placement. I mean this will all sincerity when I say that I think she probably has more pure screen voltage than anyone outside of say, Julia Roberts... So she could be an actress for all time lists if she could understand how to use the potency. I'm not a big fan of Julia but it's clear that she is A MOVIE STAR.

and, again, not trying to say that Angie is a brilliant actress per se. I think the jury is out a bit on that. But brilliance as an actor and brilliance as a movie star are sometimes separate things.

Jennifer is out? This makes me sad.... :-(

I'm worried about Blanchett, even though I predicted her for Top 15.

If The Australian Goddess CB isn't on that list I'm gonna get seriously mad.

And the great Deneuve? Will her coolness get there too? That would be awesome.

  8. Yeah, I do think JConn should be on the list somewhere... but this high? Yikes.
I assume Halle Berry is not here... even though you've gotta admit, she's sealed her place in history this decade, and is now a major star (even if her movies are bad).
So who's left? Kidman, Blanchett, Winslet, Moore, Dunst, Pfeifffer... maybe Berry and JConn? What about little Dakota Fanning? Has she shown up anywhere? I probably just forgot where she made the list earlier. Anyway, very excited for the top 15.

  9. Oh wait, I missed those last few posts. Guess JConn is out. I'm not holding my breath for Berry either (not that I'm invested in that one).

But yo, chill out, people, Blanchett will be top 10.

I was thinking about Dakota Fanning yesterday! Will she appear and if so how high. Nath's obviouslty impressed by her.

Jennifer would be on my list (if that's any conselation)

I'm still wondering about the placement of Dunst. Because as much as he likes her she's never been nominated for a FilmBitch award (has she? Maybe Virgin Suicides). I know she came close with crazy/beautiful

And, while Angelina may be a movie star I just don't think her performances warrent a placement on the list when people like Jennifer Connolly (not that I'm a huge fan of hers) is not.

I think Catherine Deneuve has already been listed.

One thing that I found odd about the list! When you got to Annette Bening you said she was the highest ranked person with only one performance. And so that meant that Bjork was absent, but I destinctly remember she won the gold FilmBitch award that year. Plus she wrote the music, that should've given her some extra credit.

No, Deneuve hasn't been listed yet. But will "Dancer in the Dark" and "8 Women" be enough for a Top 15 placement? I dunno.

    Björk left me wandering too.

I think Kirsten *was* nominated last year for "Sunshine", though I don't remember Maggie Cheung ever being nominated (which is odd, to say the least).

  12. Kirsten won a medal for Virgin Suicides and has gotten lots of finalist citations from Nathaniel. Her 2000s filmography is very impressive, she'll be way up there.

Bjork, I think, isn't here because she isn't really an "actress"... and cause yeah, she's only done one film and will never do another.

Deneuve had Pola X, I think, and maybe something else? I didn't expect her this high, but I think she'll be here.

My predictions for he final fifteen, in no order

    Patricia Clarkson
    Toni Collette
    Kirsten Dunst
    Isabelle Huppert
    Scarlett Johansson
    Nicole Kidman
    Frances McDormand
    Julianne Moore
    Samantha Morton
    Gwenyth Paltrow
    Michelle Pfeiffer
    Kate Winslet

And???? Who am I missing? Who have I got that he's already listed?

    ReplyDelete
  14. From that list, 9 are shoo-ins... but Paltrow, McDormand, and Huppert feel iffy to me... I guess Hupert has 2002, which was a big deal. Frances' odds are pretty good, I guess. But what has Gwyneth really done outside of Sylvia?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anonymous12:31 AM

Um... Gwyneth and Isabelle were already listed.

    I'd say...

    Cate Blanchett
    Patricia Clarkson
    Toni Collette
    Catherine Deneuve
    Kirsten Dunst
    Scarlett Johansson
    Nicole Kidman
    Frances McDormand
    Julianne Moore
    Samantha Morton
    Michelle Pfeiffer
    Uma Thurman
    Kate Winslet

    i'm still missing a few...

put us out of our misery, nathaniel!

    Björk!!!

  17. Yeah, I think Javi's 13 will be there... but who could the last two be...?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anonymous1:34 AM

Found Paltrow at 64 (don't know how my eyes missed the poster), but I can't find Huppert. He has Isabelle Rosselini on his list, though.

Yeah, I didn't think Isabelle Huppert had been cited. Huppert did have Piano Teacher, 8 Women, I Heart Huckabees, plus others stuff.

I think Javier's 13 are right, plus Huppert and...

    JOAN ALLEN!!!!

(surely, it's gotta be her, doesn't it?)

    -Glenn

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh right, Joan Allen.. duh. I guess I thought perhaps that she'd been lower.

Is Huppert really not here yet? If not, I think she and Deneuve might be a combo pack. If that's the case, then I say 11-15 (in no particular order) are:

    Huppert
    Deneuve
    Thurman
    McDormand
    Collette

    6-10:
    Blanchett
    Clarkson
    Johannson
    Morton
    Allen

    1-5: (Nathan's goddesses):
    Dunst
    Winslet
    Moore
    Pfeiffer
    KIDMAN

I'm sure I'll be somewhat off on the order, but those 15 are looking mighty strong to me...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous6:17 AM

I don't think Allen will be that high.

I dunno about Pfeiffer in the top 5. She's only had 2 movies compared to, say, Blanchett, Clarkson or Collette.

    (this is fun)

  22. Anonymous10:27 AM

yeah but the wait isn't... lol

    ReplyDelete
  23. OK, maybe switch Allen with Collette, and Pfeiffer with... Clarkson? Morton? I dunno. Order is impossible to say.
I'm kind of convinced that Moore, Dunst, and Kidman will be in the top 5, though.
