Most Likely to Repeat?

If past years are any indication one of this year's nominees will be nominated again in another 11 months. So, for those with a film lined up for next season, who is it?

ANNETTE BENING -Mrs. Harris / Running with Scissors (Two meaty roles for this delectable actress)
CATE BLANCHETT -Little Fish
JOHNNY DEPP -Charlie & the Chocolate Factory / The Libertine / Rum Diary
LEONARDO DICAPRIO -The Departed (Remake of Infernal Affairs w Scorsese again. Costarring Matt Damon)
JAMIE FOXX -Jarhead (for Sam Mendes)
MORGAN FREEMAN -Edison / Batman Begins / Lucky Number Slevin / An Unfinished Life
LAURA LINNEY -The Exorcism of Emily Rose / Jindabyne / The Squid and the Whale
VIRGINIA MADSEN -the Wrong Element (thriller with Harrison Ford)
SOPHIE OKONEDO -Aeon Flux (sci-fi with Charlize Theron & Frances McDormand)
CLIVE OWEN -Savage Grace (with Julianne Moore) / Derailed (thriller) / Sin City
NATALIE PORTMAN -Paris Je T'Aime / V for Vendetta / Star Wars Episode 3 / Free Zone
IMELDA STAUNTON -Nanny McPhee (with Emma Thompson)
HILARY SWANK -The Black Dahlia (for Brian dePalma)
KATE WINSLET -Romance and Cigarettes (with Susan Sarandon and James Gandolfini)

Hmmm, the pickings are a bit sparse, Oscarbait-wise. But I'd say Bening (for Running w/ Scissors) and Winslet (who has All the Kings Men as well, right?) would be the most likely.

1. Johnny Depp wont be nominated for "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory". Not only is it similar in vein to Pirates (just like he wont be nominated for that sequel) but I think it's even going to be weirder and surreal.

2. "Romance & Cigarettes" is a musical, non?

3. Kate Winslet will probably get another nomination and may finally win... for a remake of "All The Presedent's Men"? She will be supporting for Cigarettes from what I have read so...

4. Morgan Freeman could do it if "An Unfinished Life" is better than "The Shipping News"

5. I suddenly love Laura Linney A LOT more considering she's in "Jindabyne" - an Australian movie from the director on one of 2001's top 5 movies (and one of the top 5 greatest Australian films of all time), "Lantana". I cannot wait. "A modern day adult ghost story. Jindabyne is a film about what haunts us." aah, Ray Lawrence PLEASE make it a hatrick after "Bliss" and "Lantana"!

6. Another big year for Natalie Portman? Yay!

and lastly

7. It still strikes me at strange that Scorcese and DiCaprio were so desperate to remake Infernal Affairs (a swell little movie) so soon... I think it'll become one of Scorcese's lesser-nominated films...

If the role of Mother in'Running With Scissors' is as juicy in the script as it is in the book Annette should dust off her acceptance speech (if she doesn't get to use it this year).

I read somewhere last week that Gwyneth Paltrow has taken over for Annette Bening in Running with Scissors (even though Bening had already replaced Julianne Moore). Am I the only person who's heard this rumor? (Wish I could remember where....)

Out of this list, I'm hoping Winslet is great in A Doll's House and/or All the King's Men, though I wish Blanchett were still playing Nora as originally intended (and speaking of "intended," I really wish it were Janet McTeer). Would be strange for two actresses to win from the same role in King's Men, and McCambridge will be hard to surpass. Though we are talking about Kate Winslet.

Winslet and Portman will eventually have Oscars, and Blanchett had better, also. Kate, Cate, and Morgan are the only three whose careers thus far really demand recognition in my book.

While this isn't a repeat you can just about give a Best Supporting Actor nomination right now to Paul Giamatti for Cinderella Man. Unless the movie is universally panned by critics and audiences alike, he's in.

Isn't The Black Dahlia supposed to be oscarbaity? Thought I can't imagine Swank getting a third nom so soon if she wins this year. Bening probably won't be nommed next year if she wins this year, either. Depp I think can count on a globe nom for Charlie but not oscar... maybe for another film? Morgan for Unfinished Life could win if he doesn't win this year. Portman and Winslet seem very likely (but will Portman be nominated in the same year that a Star Wars film is released?). Portman is a busy girl, it seems... will she continue to act now that she can basically do whatever she wants? I'm thinking she will, at least on and off... when you're young, beautiful and a star, why quit? Live it up, Natalie! Another supporting nom for her next year seems quite possible, if any of these are supporting roles.

With regards to Paul Giamatti and Cinderella Man... GOD, this movie looks SO bad... the trailer is the cheesiest thing I've ever seen. I wanted to crack up when Renée goes "I'm ALways... behind you." What has happened to her talent? I'm glad she's going away. Perhaps she knows her time at the top is up. I'm hoping this movie suffers the fate of some films where everyone involved is fresh off of oscar wins and no longer owed: no real oscar attention, despite being made to win awards (Contact got shut out, and it was a REALLY good movie). Plus, Cinderella Man will look tame after M$B. But ew, this means Renee COULD conceivably get a sixth globe nom in as many years since she's playing the supportive wife, but I think she'll miss out, and I'm praying everyone else will, too. But Giamatti will probably make it because they owe him so badly. And he seems like the type they'd be just fine nominating in supporting, despite being snubbed in lead.

Re: Running w/ Scissors -

Last I heard, Gwyneth Paltrow had signed on to the project in ADDITION to Bening.
