Welcome, Advocate Readers

Are you new?
If you're just peeking at the Film Experience due to "Meet the Bloggers" in the Advocate, a big busty welcome from whatever distance. I knew I was going to be featured in the mag but I'm ecstatic that there's an actual goddamn diva on the cover. Bragging rights! I mean, it could have been a beastly burden.

While you're here, please check out some greatest hits like the recently wrapped Oscar coverage, perhaps the Gyllenhaalic section. There's reviews, a podcast, and a number of special semi-weekly "series" like 08th, tues top ten, kissing and hump day hotties. We even take requests (or will soon again at any rate). I confess: the blog doesn't know it's a blog, but thinks itself an indie television network instead. Actress enthusiasts (known as "actressexuals" around these parts) are the wind beneath the wings of this blog and they feel especially cozy whilst visiting --they're always kicking off their shoes to wax rhapsodic about Meryl Streep, debate the cool calculations of Nicole Kidman, or ponder the staying power of ScarJo among numerous others.

You gotta have friends...
Returning readers, here's that Advocate piece below (click to enlarge). I give you, the collective "you" that is, a shout out within. Thanks for your continued support, good humor and eyeballs.

Don't you look cute in that pic, Nat ;-)

I'm glad that you get coverage. The Film Experience has definitely become my favourite blog. Great work! It's really a pity that you cannot do this as your main job....

I agree--it's a shame you can't make money at this, because you really are the best source for everything movies. It's pretty amazing you are such a diligent poster with no big incentive to do so, other than Advocate pieces and commentors brown-nosing every once in a while:-)

I never knew you were in HR magagement. My BF is studying for the GREs right now to get into a HR Masters program. I'll have to hit you up for career advice sometime.

Congratulations, Nathaniel. I really enjoy reading your blog. Never stop doing what you do!

By the by, what advice would you give someone who's a real noob at blogging?

You could raise money selling framed copies of that pic. Hawt!

my number one rule of advice to newbies is to NOT do it like I do it. Work with a team of people...
it's way too much work for one person ;) especially if you want frequent posting.

my general idea of the 5 rules of thumb for good/successful/worthwhile blogging...

consistency
quality
networking
focus (i.e. picking your topic or niche and sticking with it. I was so all over the place the first year)
and...
originality (this is optional for success. In fact, it's practically a deterrent ha ha... but it's important to me)

also if you're really serious it's good to read blogs like pro-blogger which have a ton of great ideas if you have time to utilize them (which i dont damnit)

Nathaniel,
So glad to read about more recognition for your site. But you need to get some friends to help you now and then.

Nat: As I said earlier elsewhere, a big congratulations! The article is great and it's wonderful to see you getting the recognition you so richly deserve.

Bravo!

hey nat, this advogate thing makes me wonder: are you gay? cause I was pretty shure that we were the last straight guys that love movies!

Congrats, Nat! I've said over and over (and over) how much I love this place, and unless you put a complete stop to it altogether (please don't), I never will! :)

Bravo Nat! Miss M on the cover, a great picture on the inside (cuuute!), it doesn't get any better than that...

...ok, sponsership to allow you to permanently quit your dayjob would be cool (maybe in the form of a hot older guy - someone who bears a strong resemblance to Viggo - walks in, throws money at you, and says "Go ahead Nathaniel, whatever you want. All I have is yours.")

there will, of course, be more nutjobs coming to the site (not to be confused with us loyal, regular nutjobs) who don't "get" what you do here. Such is the downside of fame. (Nicole can empathize, I'm sure.)

Stupid question of the day - are Susan P and I the ONLY female readers here?

Is the blog your "favourite waste of time" or your "beast of burden" or... oh, you could go on for hours.

Congrats!

Hello Nat. New kid on the block and sort of wandring lost in your blogosphere. Read about this place in The Advocate and it sounded perfect for Linus to learn, laugh and be happy.
Hello to all my mates here and I hope I don't get in the way.
