Freedomland finally went and got itself made. It gets one of those annoying one-week qualifier runs in NY & LA in December. Enjoy these stills.

Hey look! She's de-glamming!!!
Julianne will win for sure now.

I think the one-week qualifier thing will probably damn her chances here. Bad idea. Crap, I had high hopes for her awards chances with this role.
The one-week qualifying run might run just any actress's awards chances, but...
This is Julianne.
And she's de-glamming.
I really think she will win.
This looks like an oscar-bait deglamming extravaganza if I ever saw one. Even if the movie sucks (i.e. Monster), her chances are great.
Especially if Prize Winner is successful... that will get the ball rolling.
I really think this is it. The hard times/hard looks trap never fails... and should be a synch with 4-time-loser and great actress Julianne Moore pulling the strings. I'm so excited. She's gonna win.
Okay, I was sorta joking because I don't think it'll happen that easily but i spose it is entirely in the realm of possibility.
But the last 1-week qualifier that got nominated was... Judi Dench (Iris)? I think so. I suppose Judi and Julianne are equally Academy-loved (even if Moore is empty handed so far).

I really don't think the one-week qualifying run will be a problem. Hell, it's better than a January release!
Now, if the film sucks, that might be a problem. Those stills of Moore seem so over-the-top weird (what's with the blonde hair?) that the movie might turn out to just be bizarre and terrible. But it's looking a lot to me like a Monster sneak attack. The film just needs to be reasonably well-reviewed for Juli to get noticed.
I'm getting so excited about Julianne's crop of movies coming out. Especially, after the positive reviews of "Trust the Man" coming out of Toronto. It's been three long years of waiting for her to get back on track, after falling off with Laws of Attraction and The Forgotten. Even if she never wins an Oscar, atleast we win when she doesn't a quality movie.
Love Julianne, love Price when he's on his game as a screenwriter, love Jackson when he's not slumming, and totally love the premise of the novel/film....BUT...I would be 100 time more excited about this if it were not from the director of Christmas with the Kranks and America's Sweethearts. Wasn't someone else attached to this originally?
Michael WInterbottom was.
I really don't know what they were thinking with Joe Roth. You'd think they'd check his filmography before they hired him. And then think for a sec.
But no.
I just realized this year will see Julianne in theaters with TWO separate hair colors other than red. Bizarre. I don't know how I feel about that. It seems really wrong.
