To David With Love

Just wanted to express my sincere gratitude to David Cronenberg for completely rescuing 2005. If his latest filmA History of Violence is any sign as to the quality of the fall/winter movie season to come it's going to be an incredible year after all. Go see it! Review will be up soon (hopefully)

Oh my God, Nathaniel! I swear you made my day! An A!!! That's like... I know you're extremely demanding with your films so this is definitely something special. And to me (and a lot of people, I can assure you that) your opinion means more than a thousand critics! Thank you!!! Now I have this on my top To-See list! I knew this had potential!

Awesome to hear. So, if we use previous years as an indication, that like guarantees a top four placement, right *(don't worry - you don't have to spill yet :D)

Also, Tsotsi has a studio now. The Weinstein-less Miramax.

Arkaan -since this year has been so crappy i'm less secretive than usual. I absolutely can't imagine that it won't be one of my best picture nominees.

How you gon' rub it in that A History of Violence hasn't opened in Hartford yet? I am weary with longing, and envy. ;)

*sigh of relief*

Am so glad to see a well-deserved "A" next to the title of Croenenberg's latest masterpiece. It was the best film I saw at the Toronto film festival. Can't wait for your review, Nathaniel.

Yeah, it's odd but knowing Nath liked it makes me want to see it even moreso than knowing if 100% of critics like it.

Lovely!

(But will it play to Oscar?)

er, is it wrong that I've only ever seen The Fly. Oh, and 5 minutes of Spider!

I agree. It was amazing to watch the audience's response to various elements/scenes of violence throughout the movie. The evolution of emotional reaction provoked throughout the film is telling---this is much more simple plot line to write home about.

Damn blog that makes us know that Mr. Rogers has adored A History of Violence and makes wait for the review.
I'm very glad to know that there is some special film to watch.

Wow...and A from Nathaniel...such a rare 'gift' for a movie...this means I had better see it...I'm sure AHOV is much much better than the dreadful Corpse Bride, which is nothing more than a weak incarnation of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Anthony, don't count Maria's chicken's 'til they've hatched.

Cronenburg isn't exactly known for getting anybody involved with his films nominated. And I think we can all agree that Academy has snubbed many a worthy perf before.
