New Poll

Halloween is over. Back to our normal business. Vote in the new poll on the main site. And this time don't piss me off. What the hell was Warren Beatty doing with only 8 votes last time around? Grrrr. You are all evil. Evil I say.

OK. Somehow six of the first seven respondents have already missed the entire point of the poll, which is to vote for Sean Penn. Is Kenneth Blackwell tabulating this thing?

I'm also afraid I'm going to have to start hearing some defenses of the whole Johnny Depp Thing. I completely do not get it. If you cast him and shoot him exactly right, he can be extremely good, and he's unique, but... range? Hit-to-miss ratio?

I think in this poll, as opposed to the actress poll, there was some definite bias toward hotness. Understandable. But that would be why Depp is so high. Something is definitely up when Depp, Feinnes, and Day-Lewis are THAT far ahead of people like Hackman, Harris, Hoffman, Hopkins, Kingsley etc.

I voted for Hoffman, and I'm glad I did; he needed the help.

I voted for Keanu Reeves. In the Matrix or on a bus, his acting chops are always on display! His suicide scene in "Constantine" gave me such chills! To some the term "dude" is just slang, to Keanu, it's a true term of endearment! Bravo Keanu! Bravo.

Yes I am suggesting that... though I myself am not immune... in this latest poll, I voted for River Phoenix ;)

And now that I have you cornered, Nathaniel (HA!), WHEN are you going to watch the Exorcist!? Have you not been reading my badgering posts? You really must. You must not let your pansiness preclude your viewing of accepted classics. Bad Nathaniel, bad!

Haha. I am so harsh. I'm sorry.

I'm simply pissed off because I can't vote for the sublime Mark Ruffalo, who, I have to say, I discovered only recently.

So, my vote goes for Jack Nicholson, but in a nonchalant way altogether.

I voted for Ian McKellen. First saw him in Six Degrees of Seperation, which I watched on a whim and really enjoyed. Then his brilliant (strangely) Oscarless performance in Gods & Monsters and then X-Men supplied with him with enough nasty to chomp on, as did it's sequel. And then the holy grail of The Fellowship of the Ring, which he won the Gold Medal for in my own personal movie awards (titled The Umas dontcha know).

Not to mention roles in Jack and Sarah (the movie though, I detest quite a lot), Last Action Hero (which I enjoyed more than most) and Apt Pupil. I may not have seen all he has to offer, but what I have seen is beyond what I expect from an actor. So he got my vote.

The choices on the current poll leave a lot to be desired. I guess most of the modern film greats have last names beginning with A-L, eh.LOL!

Many "good" actors there (ie Spader, Woods, Quaid, Neeson, Straitharn) but very lacking in the "legend or "potential legend" choice available in the first poll.

The "class acts" (as in, we'll still be talking about them in legendary terms in 30 years time) in this poll are Pacino, Nicholson, Washington, Penn, Spacey, Mckellen and possibly Muarry.

After that, it's hard to give a damn, imho.

Ian McKellen for sexiness

I believe people are not voting for Hackman, Harris, Hoffman, Hopkins, Kingsley etc because they are not so familiar with their films from the 70s and 80s.

Disgusted as I am to learn that gay people are posting to this blog, I still wish to note: you can get good acting, hotness, and legend-in-the-making, all in one package. You know you can. Vote Penn.

(This message has been brought to you by my cerebellum, which is almost completely devoted to Sean Penn.)
