Ga Ga for the Globes
My Golden Globe predictions are up. There you'll also find my wishlist. The hard drinking tables I'm keeping a close eye on. My crystall ball attempt at sorting out who will rule the red carpet fashions. Comment here if the spirit moves you.

I agree with most of it, but:
I think Ang Lee will get director, and Clooney's prize will be the supp actor prize. God, do they really owe Paul Giamatti that much?
I also think Rachel Weisz will get supp actress prize, based on their love for the film. She also totally deserves it ahead of Michelle Williams.
I hope Maria Bello does win the drama globe and stirs things up a little. I also saw Ziyi yesterday and she was very good, considering the screenplay is hideously dreadful and she speaks limited english. Hoping for an upset somewhere, except picture.
Oh I forgot. Go Pride and Prejudice! I'd love to see it enter the race!
I think that Weisz' performance is far more interesting, layered and just more ferociously vital than Williams'. Or perhaps I'm just biased because she's the actress I fell in love with this year. I can't believe I considered Rachel to be generic just a few months ago! As of right now I can't wait to see more of her, starting with "The Fountain".
It's just that Supporting Actress has emerged as the most interesting major category this year, and a win for Williams would be just so predictable. Ultimately I want the Oscar to go to Bello or Weisz, the Globe certainly to Weisz. The way she made "Gardener" her movie despite the limited screen time (because she was Lead in that by all accounts) was just staggering. Good luck, Rachel.
I think Clooney will win screenplay AND supporting actor, but not director. Ang Lee seems to be steamrolling.
I once thought ScarJo had the globe sewn up, but now it looks very interesting. I am predicting Williams, but Weisz would not shock me. Neither would ScarJo.
I am thinking score goes to Williams since Brokeback looks to have plenty of other globe wins coming, and song goes to Brooks, since Huffman will be winning from TransAmerica and they liked the Producers.
I'm being stubborn and sticking with Johansson, even though all evidence does seem to be pointing away from that. And watch out for a Maria Bello win, especially if Huffman splits her votes between Transamerica and DH.
Yeah, the other day on my blog I wrote that I think Huffman will win for Housewives and Bello will win for Violence and will be snubbed by AMPAS.
All my predix and comments are on my blog and I can't be bothered retyping them here.
If they really like Huffman, they'll just vote for her in both categories. I wouldn't be surprised if she won both.
But still, go Bello! Woo!
Nice predictions, Nathaniel, though I think Nathan Lane is more likely to rob Joaquín Phoenix of his Globe than is Jeff Daniels. The HFPA obviously liked The Producers, and if Richard Gere could win for Chicago...
Also -- I'm happy to see I'm not the only one predicting a Dolly Parton victory in the Best Song category. Whether or not AMPAS follows suit, the Globes nearly always reward star wattage in this category (Mick Jagger in 2004, Annie Lennox in 2003, U2 in 2002, Sting in 2001, Bob Dylan in 2000, Phil Collins in 1999...). And Dolly Parton seems most gifted in that department, though I suppose a sentimental victory for Mel Brooks isn't outside the realm of possibility.
i really agree with all of your choices.. especially Pride and Prejudice. I don't think Bello belongs in actress rathe supporting actress. I like Weisz for that one .. Ihope Heath Ledger pulls an upset over Hoffman.
I don't think it'd be considered an upset it Ledger won. Most people seem pretty evenly split when it comes to predicting that category. Half say Hoffman, the rest - Ledger.
I think Crash is going to win something (Globes will try to predict Crash's success with Oscar in lieu of a nomination for best picture). Thus, I predict Crash will win screenplay. It follows, using Nat's logic, that George Clooney will win director since I do not think they will give him a supporting Globe. If Clooney wins supporting, then Ang Lee wins director.
