Complex Math. Hollywood Myth.

Joe Reid is back! His new column does some complex mathematical "value" equations and dishes on Oscar's fabulous party...

"This Oscar season --with its Brokebacks and its Capotes and its Murrows -- offers a perfect opportunity for conservos to re-ignite the culture wars. Only, this time I don't think it's working too well. Brokeback Mountain is a legitimate hit, at $55 million and climbing, and has been largely resistant to the hatchet jobs we all figured were coming. Still, the hatchet jobs continue, as do the constant stream of lecturing pundits who desperately want us to believe that Hollywood hates America. Which is a myth, and I will tell you why..."

I'm beginning to think I'm the only one really happy at Charlize's inclusion and Joan's supposed 'snub' - the academy picked 5 of my top 6 actress performances this year - it's a rare thing so I'm suitably ecstatic!

In all honesty, I really liked Charlize's performance and was happy to see it nominated. Would have rathered Joan, but I'm cool with Charlize. The line makes sense with Charlize, though, so I kinda James Frey-ed it.

(I still wish Joan was there. Apart from Reese and Keira, i wouldn't care who got kicked out for her. But 'tev. I'm slowly making my peace)
