For those who've been impatiently waiting for the annual "year in advance" Oscar predictions, I've started typing out the lists of studio offerings on this page -- my way of sharing notes on films I have in a spreadsheet and trying to convince myself how Oscar might respond as I type.
Feel free to comment here or wait until the whole things completed on Sunday (when the actual predictions will be announced). Page one is done with notes on Sony, Dreamworks, Focus, New Line, Fox, and Lionsgate.

Sony Pictures Classics also has Persepolis, based on Satrapi's funny and intriguing graphic novel/memoir. It's an animated film
Random question: Does anyone know if Ang Lee's Lust, Caution is foreign language?
it is yes. It's in Mandarin
We should have you on our podcast sometime! So smart :)
Nathaniel, explain your resoning in ommiting The Other Boleyn Girl, from your Columbia / Sony studio preview
boo boo
Two corrections for the Focus Features part:
Eastern Promises is currently set to be released in September.
Atonement has been moved from August to December.
Also, Into the Wild isn't even mentioned on the Focus Features site. Is it certain that Focus will distribute it and that it will happen this year?
I'm cautiously curious about Persepolis. Brilliant graphic novel, and the author is apparently very involved. And the Ms. Deneuve is on board. So, um, count me in.
Ratatouille is going to clinch the animation Oscar this year. Does anyone not love the trailer upon viewing it? And does no one marvel at the STORY that has evaded so many major animation attempts since The Incredibles (incidentally the previous film directed by Brad Bird)?
anonymous --nothing is ever certain. release dates change continually. Sunshine has changed twice already. Atonement once. etc... Into the Wild might happen this year. it might not.
colin --i'm looking forward to ratatouille too. the animation page will be up as soon as i can finish it (but again... i'm not listing the animated features in the studio preview because i just feel the category has become it's own ghetto thing and doesn't really apply to the Oscar race in general
