the nadir, imnsho, is Curse of the Jade Scorpion though... although this one is surprisingly unfunny given that it has a much funnier basic premise than many of his films
You won't spell out the name of She Who Will Not Be Named, but you'll go around blithely invoking C. of the J.S. as though it is no big deal? Is this Friday the 13th and nobody told me? The Curse must not be named!
(And speaking of abbreviations and not naming, what is imnsho? It's the n.s. that loses me...)
Kill me but I enjoyed Curse of the Jade Scorpion in a light-hearted three-and-a-half-stars kind of way. Hollywood Ending made me depressed for weeks. (Anything Else - like HE - went straight to video in Australia, but my local video store didn't bother to carry it.)
I think Woody needs to accept as soon as possible that his gift for slapstick and one-liners has faded, but - looking at Match Point, of course - he's still quite solid at characterisation if he just puts in a half-effort.
I quite liked Scoop, but until M&M i didn't bother with any of Allen's movies from that bad phase. I only recently saw Small Time Crooks and despite it apparently being one of his better bad films, it made me really sad. It was so good for, like, 20 minutes and then went to the crapper. I'm not a fan of Deconstructing Harry either, which was his last Oscar nod before Match Point if I'm not mistaken.

I can't decide whether this or Anything Else is Woody's lowest point. I tend to think it's this. Didn't see Scoop though.
Still, no matter how many bombs he turns out, I don't think I'll ever stop hoping with every new film that he'll pull out one more masterpiece.
Agreed.
