20:07 (House of Chiang)

each morning a screenshot from the 20th minute and 7th second of a movie (plus the dialogue if there is any)

And what I hear is that my special night means absolutely nothing to you!
Oh Jamie Lee. As if Lindsay ever thinks about someone else's needs. For real now... A smart woman like you. Let go with love.

That Jamie Lee Curtis is fabulous in this film came as no surprise whatsoever. That Ms Lohen, who'd I'd never seen in anything except tabloid pics, had some fine moments (and was still somewhat freckle-faced, healthy, and red-haired) did. *spoiler alert* Watch the scene where Lohan, as the daughter-inhabited-by-her-mother, tells her mother-inhabited-by-her-daughter (got that?)to tell the fiance to call off the wedding - and watch her reaction as she waits for those words to come and hears something very different. That moment - the expression on her face, was as fine a piece of screen acting as I've seen in quite some time. I defy even my beloved Miss Kidman to top it. So I join the chorus of those who sing "Please, please, girl, get some help, before it's too late."

And as for Jaime - what can I say that hasn't already been? This movie is a brilliant duet between two well-matched actresses, although I do think Jaime should have gotten a nod from the Oscars. Really. Any actress can put on weight or ugly down for a little critical love, but how many can plug into the mojo of a 14 year old and make it seem effortless? That sort of talent deserves more consideration than it's gotten.

BTW, this is one of the few films that I've seen that gets it right (particularly coming from Disney, - yes, the same studio that gave us the drek that is the Princess Diaries, which is the holy roman wonder of it all)about modern (single) mother-daughter relationships.

Can you tell I love this film?

I've known Lindsay was great in this since the beginning, when she WASN'T high. Ahh, those were the days. Gas cost $0.05, Coolidge was president and the roaring '20s were goign at full speed, liquor was illegal and Al Capone was shootin' up people. And no one could even imagine what a "talkie" is... [sighs]

I seriously love that movie so much. I was laughing so much when I saw it on a whim at the cinema. And when I showed some other friends they were like "really? Freaky Friday!?" but then they watched it and thought it was hilarious too.

And, yeah, Lindsay was great in this. I actually think she was either my #6 or #7 actress from that year. Jamie was #2, naturally.
