Leung & Kaneshiro. At the Same Time (Gasp)

Excuse me but how is it that no one told me about this movie?

Tony Leung AND Takeshi Kaneshiro are in the same movie (for the first time since Chungking Express and they weren't really together in that movie so it's the first time ever, sort of). It's called Confessions of Pain. Please deliver this movie to me now. Or within the hour. Hurry. Qi Shu who you'll remember from Three Times is the female lead.

The movie has been released in Asia for a while. It has been made by the same directors of Infernal Affair. The movie is quite all right, but very different from Infernal Affair. Some people might think it's boring and it's true on some level. I kind of like it, but not very much. Leung is excellent as always and Kaneshiro is so yummy in every shot... just seeing them together is worth the price of admission.

Don't get your hopes up. This movie is mediocre at best. The plot is just plain unimaginative and the only saving grace is the fact that Leung and Kaneshiro are in it.

Nathaniel, make part of your reading to keep up with Asian films. I contributed a couple of reviews of films and DVDs I saw in Thailand. Speaking of Shu Qi, I picked up a new DVD of Millenium Mambo for about $6.00 in Chiang Mai for my collection.

Sorry, when I do HTML it seems to get goofed up in the comments section.

HTML is sometimes very annoying. This should work.

Hou Hsiao-hsien can try all he might to dislodge my memory of The Transporter, but I'll always think of Shu Qi as the girl with masking tape over her mouth, until her hunky and "sensitive" captor/trafficker (though he knew not what he did!) punches a hole in it for her, allowing her to "romantically" drink orange juice through a tiny straw.

Surely she is the Garbo of Franco-Asian thrill-ride exploitation trash?

it's not as good as Infernal Affairs. I was also stoked for a Shu Qi starring role, only to discover she has about 5 lines in 5 strange minutes of screen time...it is a disappointing, but not a terrible flick. head to your local Chinatown for a copy...I believe Blood Brothers is out too?
