Blanchett has a good shot at getting nominated, but she won't win another Supporting Oscar so soon. They'll want to reward her with a Leading Oscar next time around, especially given that she is actually much more of a leading lady than a supporting actress anyway and currently has 2 Supporting nods to only 1 Leading nod.
I can see the Atonement girls cancelling each other out, Blanchett just being happy to be there, and the Oscar going to either Jennifer Jason Leigh or Helena Bonham Carter.
The only time I'll ever root against her.
She should have gotten a special award for her scene in Coffee & Cigarettes.
I know, I know! I really hope she can take one for the team though...
700 actors? Yikes. They're gonna need a Requiem for a Dream-style frenetically edited montage with different Dylans in order to make it clock in at an Oscar-friendly running time (because I reckon Blanchett, Ledger and all the other big names will have lengthy scenes of their own).
I believe the actual number is 7. LEDGER, BALE, BLANCHETT, GERE, and three other less famous faces.
I think it's six, actually, the two less famous faces being Ben Whishaw (from Perfume, mostly), and a little black boy called Marcus Carl Franklin. I managed to get screen shots of all the actors from, well, the thing you didn't want to know about ;-)
Oh, my bad... The film already sounded so kooky (in a good way), that for a moment I thought it seemed plausible that Todd Haynes had actually split the role into 700 different parts. Heh.
Thanks Harvey, give Nathaniel ANOTHER reason to root against Blanchett.
As I mentioned on my blog, to steal a line from Hot Fuzz (in which she cameos): For The Greater Good. She must not be nominated for the great good.
Maybe Julianne Moore will get nominated for I'M NOT THERE as best supporting actress:

I always thought that Cate Blanchett will be nominated twice this year at the Oscars anyway, but I hate that Harvey's setting the expectation out there so early, b/c that could easily backfire on him if he hypes things up too much before the work's seen.
Initial thought? Stunt casting. After the trailer and the clip made available via YouTube? Stunning. Just like the film.
