Marion Cotillard is Dangerous!

Why do I feel like Marion Cotillard is going to swing that at me if she sees me..."Who will pay me to heet Nathaniel for talking merde!?"

I'm experiencing post Oscar delirium. Surely that's it. I swing from wildly happy to depressed to angry to inexplicably fond of people I hate (and vice versa) why just this morning I was marvelling at the cuteness of Marion in all those backstage clips when she says 'I am sparkles and fireworks and all those things that go ... pow pow pow.' Now, I am begging myself to leave the Oscar behind. Tonight. I'll wrap up tonight. Tomorrow morning at the latest. Then on to new things. Like sleep.

I am watching A Good Year right now all because Marion Cotillard won the Oscar! (To think it's now Academy Award-winners Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard that star in this movie. Crazy! Albert Finney is still only an Academy Award-nominee though. Freddie Highmore should also be an Academy Award-nominee.)

I also rewatched La vie en rose last night! I also think she's cute. And the best dressed on Oscar night. One of the only fashion-forward choices (along with Rosamund Pike's Roland Mouret and Tilda Swinton's Lanvin).

I'm not meant to like her! She took an Oscar that wasn't hers. She is my second least favourite winner in that category in the past 20 years!

I've gone a bit crazy too, Nathaniel.

I really think she's so talented in La Vie En Rose, and that this speaks of real range. Yes, she did win the award partly because she's beautiful and vivacious, but this is actually proof at how deep she's willing to go into her roles. She surprised everyone as Piaf, and surprised us all again by winning.

I love that's she's confusing everyone who didn't like her. Actual Oscar excitement!

Didn't she say something like "you rock my night?" which caused everyone in my basement to start shouting out old 80s tunes.

You spin me right round baby right round like a record player right round round round.

or Rock You Like A Hurricane.

or I Smell Like I Sound and I'm Hungry Like A Wolf.

what should highmore be an oscar nominee for.

she's crafty & very hollywood....she knows how to play the game. She knew to hit the party circuit & she had the dvd mailing of "La Vie En Rose" behind-the-scenes (all focused on her performance) go out just in time. She worked hard to win that oscar. Julie Christie doesn't play the game....so she lost. I think the whole thing stinks.

I think she will be a Virginie Ledoyen.

Adjani, most likely. Which means she'll get another one fourteen years from now.

Anon 4.38pm - Finding Neverland. Should've been a nominee in Alan Alda's place that year.

It's hard to say about Cotillard. I could see her getting in soon with at least a nomination again like Charlize Theron did after Monster, but I could also easily imagine that she could be one of those actors who is never nominated again either.

I know she has Nine and Public Enemies coming up, and on paper they both look like great prospects. However, I could see both of them not doing as well as expected. Like I would love to see Christian Bale and Johnny Depp do well at Oscar time for Public Enemies, but it's got the Dorff in it to counter-act all the other performances.

Further, Nine could be a hit, but then again it could turn out to be like Cinderella Man which probably was somewhat hurt by the fact that the two main stars had won recently. Plus, if Synecdoche, New York comes out before it, maybe will look worse in comparison.

Marion Cotillard earned that Oscar with an unbelievable performance that so many factors working against it. Unknown actor, foreign language performer, a marked split in the precursors, little-seen film, fragmented presentation, more well-known competition, etc. Don't cry and moan now that her win was all due to campaigning, b/c it wasn't.

Nine's gonna rock the casbah! Robbie Marshall is the one director that can pull it off, and Marion's got more tricks you've never seen.

Deal w/ it! :)

I voted Binoche, but I think her career will have a bit more mainstream, less film festival twang to it, both in Francophone and Anglophone productions. So maybe more like a Tautou?

In many interwievs that I saw her, I think marion Cotillard is a smart and nice actress, with talent and beauty. She has an intersting career with good performances in different proyects. Now with an Oscar for her outstanding performance in "La vie en rose" I believe she became in an international star with the intelligence of development in both worlds (Hollywood and Europe), with success, like Juliette Binoche or (it's soon but maybe) even Catherine Deneuve and Sofia Loren
