When they redo this movie, and the spin off TV series, they will have to make it about the mortal who wants to become a witch. What witch wants to be a mortal? None that I know!
Somehow I've managed to miss "Bell, Book, and Candle" all these years. Come to think of it, I cannot remember having seen a movie with Kim Novak in it, which knocks out a good-sized chunk of the Hitchcock canon.
What can I say...I've led a sheltered life. Which Novak performance is the one I cannot afford to miss before I die?
Not once when I was watching Vertigo did I notice her eyebrows in any outstanding manner, and now I feel like I'm missing out on some grand conspiracy! *pouts*
I saw "Bell, Book, and Candle" on TV when I was a kid and loved it. I didn't know who Kim Novak was but I thought she was really cool. Then they showed another one of her movies "The Notorious Landlady", which I also loved. I have no idea if these movies are actually any good or not.
I think "Bell" would be a great remake, but I can really see chris's point about preferring to be a witch.
Another old one I liked on the same kind of theme is "I Married a Witch" with Veronica Lake as the witch. The guy who played her scoundrel warlock father was great.
"Here I was born, there I lived, and here, I died."
At the Museum of Science here in Boston, they have a big ol' redwood slice as in the famous scene from Vertigo. When I said the above (bastardized) line from the movie to the bf, he had no idea what I was talking about. I seriously considered leaving him.
Ok, no I didn't. But only because he loves Cabaret.

I love the Jazz club scenes with Jack Lemon.

no one should miss VERTIGO before they die. period. and not just due to Novak.
Just read a great article about Kim Novak: http://www.jonathanrosenbaum.com/?p=7962
She was great in Vertigo, but her eyebrows always bug me.
Yeah, her eyebrows have a power all their own.
I second N's comment about Vertigo. It is astounding, and not just because of KN's eyebrows. It has perhaps the best dream sequence ever.
