I think you're foolish for predicting a screenplay snub for WALL*E. EVERY Pixar animated winner got a screenplay nomination. As did Shrek, which also won. It's totally a thing. Pixar is like the new Woody Allen.
The only reason I could imagine it wouldn't get nommed is cause all the best moments are silent. But that's not a good enough reason. Screenplays are more than just dialogue. I think screenwriters, of all people, can appreciate that.
I don't know if they are into narrative over words as a collective, but the fact that screenplay categories are one of the easiest for the non-English-spoken films to sneak into suggests there must be at least a strong fraction of voters who favours the narrative.

I know some said Jude's performance was slightly ridiculous in this movie.
I thought it was fantastic....

By the way, I'm so thrilled you've come around a bit with Emma Thompson's Supporting Actress chances.

which is why all the screenplay nominees are SO not about the words.
huh?
i get what you're saying but oscar history doesn't really show that they're into general narrative over words.
this movie had some of the most gorgeous cinematography. RIP Conrad Hall
I miss Jude Law in great parts. He was good in Perdition.
Anyway, my sister and I are planning to catch him in Hamlet next year. That'd be cool
