I Don't Care if You Think I'm Link

This Recording "in which it's really human of you to listen to all my bullshit" ... fun piece on 80s teen movies and geeky romance
i09 has the twitter feeds you must follow. The 'Michael Bay' excerpt is priceless
Big Picture negative / mixed reviews of W.
NYT I love this chart on Presidential Physique. Does Obama's slender frame work against or for him?
Trading Faces has a good solid piece on the most recent Presidential debate
Boy Culture delivers the most detailed review of Madonna's Sticky & Sweet you'll find. Even though it's very personal I agree with so much of it I'm not going to write a word about the tour. Plus, well: film blog (mostly) ... I'm trying to stay on topic ;)
Lazy Evil Eye Theater "the only thing more terrifying than the last 12 words of this post are the first 206!" -Piper is having so much witty fun with his rechristened blog!
Out1 Film Journal James doesn't believe in multiple film festival posts. He's going to tell you everything in one NYFF post that rivals Che in length
Coming Soon The Oscars are going to allow film commercials this year. WHAT? Why am I so averse to change with my Oscars?
Out in Hollywood
Queen Latifah's latest 'I don't care if you think i'm gay' proclamation
Playbill Liza Minelli is returning to Broadway. "And the My World Goes Round"...

No no, the thing about advertising movies during the Oscars is a GOOD thing. Let's face it, who is going to be more interested in a big trailer premiere? People watching the Oscars or people watching the Superbowl? Exactly, the former, so why not let them advertise? Plus, if more people watch the Oscars because they'll premiere a big trailer then isn't that what we want?

I've never understood why they don't advertise movies during the show. I know they don't wanna appear biased towards whatever studio is giving them the most money, but it's a show dedicated to awarding MOVIES so why not show ads for MOVIES? It's really quite proposterous.

I second Glenn, bringing big trailers during Oscars is much better than broadcasting them on other nonrelevant events...

you guys are probably right but how annoying would it be to have those self-satisfied "ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE... insert name "ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE... insert name "ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE... insert name "ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE... insert name" style movie commercials in that setting. you know the type...

agree with the other posters. I've always wished they would play movie trailers during the ads. Even bad ones. At least it's more fodder for film geek commentary, as opposed to more ads for cars or beer.

W's first reviews suck. What a shame. That last preview had me psyched. Now I'm back to my original 'so what?' reaction.

Daniel --i felt the same way about the last W. trailer though i still worried it was too soon. where's the distance for perspective?

but anyway... maybe some people will love it. It's early still.

True enough on the "Academy Award nominee ___" trailer, Nat. But at that time of year, you're more likely to hear "From the people who brought you Iron Man..." and the big summer trailers. Bait ain't but for December, man!

There are rules about what ads can play. The movie has to be out no earlier than April, and the ad can't use the words Oscars or Academy Award. I just hope it's not a situation where the ads are more entertaining than the awards show they're stitched between. Although, I've gone to actual movies and the only part of the experience I enjoyed was the trailers preceding them.

Boom Baby!

That's two in a row.

Not sure how I feel about advertising in the Oscars. Oh wait, I am sure about it. It sucks. Unless of course it brings up the level of advertising overall, which I doubt it will.

Thanks again Nat.
