Thanks to everyone who played our little game. Above are the women we featured, as more or less themselves. Will any of them end up as iconic as the legends they portrayed? Discuss.

Nope
WOW.. That did not look like Demi Moore or Calista earlier.
Demi Moore completely floored me. What a transformation, absolutely stunning!
Insanity. : O
Well, I knew most of the answers because i got the book "face forward", but i didn't get demi and Courtney (Courtney is Jean Harlow?), you should see Martha Stewart as Veronica Lake, Gena Rowlands as Ava gardner, or Julia Roberts as Julie Christie
I took me hours to figure out that she WAS NOT Audrey Hepburn
Winona Ryder should have/could have become an icon. She has the beauty and the talent. It makes me sad that her career so derailed.
I think it's very difficult for a woman in these days of television and the internet. Real actors are always going to be a bit unstable...susceptible I think, to public behavior that botches their careers.
Straight male actors can get away with alot of bad behavior...but, women can't.
Penelope Cruz may be one of the few great contemporary female actors who may become a true icon.
While most of these actresses have done some great work, I don't think they are iconic. Do we even have iconic anymore in hollywood?
Guess there's Madonna in the music world. And Streep, but they are not portrayed the same way as the classic diva's.
it's an interesting question. What would bump these actresses up to the level of icon? Is Dame Judi Dench Iconic? Catherine Denueve definitely is, no? Carrie Fischer because of the whole Princess Lea thing? i don't know.
i think at least susan sarandon will be talked of as legendary in the same way that the Hepburns and Stanwycks were (well she already is). i have a feeling winona ryder will too but dear god, that girl needs a career resurgence, big time.
Yeah possibly Susan Sarandon. By the way was she made up as Garbo or Davis?
That Demi transformation was fabulous, but my favourite was Christina Ricci.
people may object to this --but it pays to remember that "icon" doesn't translate as "most talented" so I think DEMI MOORE qualifies ...in a way.
But certainly Sarandon already has her place in film history secure. I think Winona's career ended too early to think of her in any "all time" way but it is one of the stranger collapses in film history because the collapse happened right before the iconic years for many female careers (the early to mid 30s) --just as she should have been graduating to the big film carrying star vehicles and actorly stretches and whatnot
shame, that
Demi is an icon, i guess, especially now that she has that whole couger hollywood story, and the whole "all my husbands are good friends" stuff going on.
My theory on Winona is that she sorta lost it when "Girl, Interrupted" didn't pan out the way she had hoped. After producing and starring in it, the Oscar went to her co-star, Angelina Jolie! Not long afterwards Noni started lifting goods...a sure cry for help. She is a delicate thing, after all. But if she survived the loss of Johnny Depp, she'll make it through this period this, too.
I wonder if she and Christina Ricci are still friends. I love them both!
well if you chase the noni ryder label you'll see that AT THE VERY LEAST they still sit together at fashion events ;)
