i'm barely making it through Palin '08 (and though the odds are against them winning I still live in 'must-leave-my-country' fear of that crazy nut taking over the world.
so far although the movie monsters mentioned have been women. curious
The weird twitchy doctor in the 1999 version of "House on Haunted Hill" gave me nightmares.
Does Regan count as a movie monster? She scared the living shit out of me.
Well if she was that scary for us above twenties imagine the terror the adolescents are undergoing. "My face would look like that if zits keep on coming"

Something never seen is so much more frigtening that something seen.
Sure there are scarier films, but this 'monster' has stayed with me for years. I am still frightened of the woods or any lightly shrubbed area.
the alien in alien more terrifying than any monster ever.
I have three:
1) Chernabog in Fantasia (a Night on Bald Mountain), which scared me to death. It was inspired by a short story by the Russian writer Nikolai Gogol, in which witches would gather on Bald Mountain and hold sabbath.
2) Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty - specially when she transforms into the dragon.
3) the principal vampire in Stephen King's Salem's Lot. I remember been nine or ten and watching this movie at night with my sisters, with all the lights off. When this vampire made his entrance, we all jumped, screamed and crushed my older sister (I saw this movie again like two years ago and found it silly, but I love vampire movies).

Scariest Disney villain: the witch/stepmother in Snow White. Because she's your only relative and she's going to kill you.
hands down, Sadako in the original Ringu film
It's a toss up between the 1946 classic THE BEAST WITH 5 FINGERS", and the 1971 trash independent flick THE INCREDIBLE 2 HEADED TRANSPLANT.
Yeah, extra animated body parts just freak me out to the core.
