Here's a film I keep meaning to watch, but can't seem to find the... courage? I don't know. Something about this movie scares me - or, at least, makes me feel uneasy.
I was worried about watching it too, but no matter what you've been told about it (yes, there's a lot of LONG shots of them just walking; yes, there's barely ANY dialogue; yes, there's a LOT of silence; yes, almost NOTHING happens) it's also mezmerisingly shot and Casey and Matt will definitely keep your attention. I could watch those two for hours... and I did.
When I finally did get around to seeing this, I was not dissapointed- and not just cause the cinematography was TO DIE FOR, but it was the first time Casey Affleck truely resonated with me... not doubt the man behind the camera here had a little somethin to do with his later tour-de-force as "Robert Ford".
I've been trying to force myself to see this for years. But the problem is that it directly preceded the Gus Van Sant movie that is one of the main reasons (along with Finding Forrester and the mere idea of that Psycho remake) that the name Gus Van Sant makes me *angry*. He's my candidate for most overrated director by perfectly intelligent people.
y kant if you hate Elephant with the fire of a thousand suns maybe you'll still love Gerry? Didnt' critic Mike D'Angelo give the former his worst of the year dishonor and the latter his "best of the year"?
I love this movie. After I bought the DVD I ripped the audio and find it is also fantastic on an ipod. I love where the mind travels watching the first time.

love you Gus!
Everytime I see this movie mentioned I don't think of much other than that hilarious Wheel of Fortune anecdote.

don't be afraid of this film. It's mesmorizing and the tension is simple and perfect. Very good film.
I'll revisit Elephant, than decide if I can handle this one. Bad idea? Probably.
