moonstruck....i can always watch moonstruck.
im thinking meryl streep may pull it off on sunday. kate's been campaigning too much...harvey's been campaigning too much. the campaigning is getting to be a turn off. i didn't like the holocaust joke either.

In my collection, I always love watching 'Erin Brockavich' - "Bite my ass, Krispy Kreme!"
I would watch "The Wrestler" in a heartbeat.
I've really been craving Day for Night and The Godless Girl (Cecil B. De Mille's last silent movie) for the past week or so but haven't found time to pop them in my DVD player. As for new releases, I have been DYING to get my hands on The Class. I love inspirational teacher dramas, no matter how awful, and since this one's actually getting good reviews, I feel like I need to see it immediately.

The Class, damn it. And it would be my first viewing. Ugh.
I really wanna see Doubt again.. its showing in like NO cinemas near me even tho its only been out 2 weeks (and had LOTS of advertising). by the time its out at my local independent cinema, the dvd will be out!!!

Pulp Fiction. I haven't watched it in a couple years. We've been quoting it a lot at work lately, so I'll be revisiting an old friend soon... maybe even tonight.
If I went to the theater, I'd see Coraline in 3-D again.
If I was home, I'd either pop in my new Body of Lies DVD (very underrated movie) or I'd throw on Pineapple Express.

i reaaallly wish i'd seen that yesterday instead of the Friday the 13th remake. every couple of years i become convinced that i like horror movies a lot more than i do. then movies like Friday the 13th set me straight.
"Doubt." I've been wanting to see it again for two months.
And I can't wait for "Milk" and "Rachel" to arrive on DVD.
I'm doing a birthday-movie-watching-day for my friend, and so far, the list of "potentials" includes:

a buffy mini-marathon (you know, to give the day some gravitas)

First time viewing, Coraline. I met Neil Gaiman yesterday!
Repeat viewing, LifeSize. It's been a long day.
I'm thinking I need to borrow my brothers copy of 'Volver', oh and work my way through Kate Winslet's back catalogue, before her Oscar win on sunday.
At the moment I really want to watch Topsy Turvy again.
Yeah, maybe some early stuff. Hamlet, Hideous Kinky or Jude.
Mantras - Topsy Turvey is my favourite Mike Leigh movie!
How that lost the screenplay oscar I will never know. Astonishingly well written. People crow about Hawkins this year, but Broadbent and Spall's snubs were just as outrageous! (Although more expected).

The Hours
yes topsy turvy is a beauty. And yes Broadbent is arguably better than any of the Oscar nominees that year... and some put together. Just WOW on that performance.
It's just SO good. I never tire of the brilliance of that picture. I can't quite forget what a brilliant year 1999 was for film, and what a vile bunch of nominees the Academy produced for us.
I even liked Hillary Swank back then, although Kate Winslet in Holy Smoke would have got my vote in some alternative universe.
"The Incredible Hulk".
Milk. I think Sean Penn gave the performance of a lifetime, and I am not his biggest fan. When those bullets entered Harvey Milk, I actually was catapulted back in my seat I was so absorbed in the character. That has never happened to me before.
rob, as you probably know Kate and Hilary Swank are #1 and #2 for me that year, too.
in fact... right now a triple feature of those three movies sounds AMAZING

Rachel Getting Married. No doubt. After I saw it, I was still contemplating it but I've liked it more and more every day since.
dimi that was my experience of it too. i loved it while watching it and it just kept growing on me thereafter.
Garden State. Or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I blame Tunde and his soulfulness.
Magnolia. I'm amazed I can keep watching that, considering it's three hours long. Of all the wonderful scenes though, I love the Julianne Moore breakdown at the drugstore. "and you have the nerve to call me lady?? shame on you! shame on you."
The Lord of the Rings trilogy!
Nate, I recalled you liked Holy Smoke, but I must admit I'd forgotten of their placings.
I can't believe how little love that performance got really. She placed #2 at NYFCC I believe.
For me its still amongst her best work.
All this talk of Topsy Turvey is going to have me raiding the DVD cupboard.
Is anyone else dreadully excited about Sunday ? I'm quite giddy already.
Actually, any one of Robert Downey Jr's films. I think I'll go look through my library (I think I have about 20!) and pop in the first one that tickles my fancy...
