I keep meaning to see "The Magnificent Ambersons," what with my "Touch of Evil" and "Citizen Kane" love.
I too never liked "Catcher," although on a second reading really admired "Franny & Zooey."
I haven't seen Citizen Kane, which is really bad but even worse...considering I'm a Jew...is the fact that I haven't seen Schindler's List. Don't like admitting to that one.
Though I think not having seen Star Wars is a MUCH bigger travesty. Ya'll get on that right now.

Up until a few months ago, it was Star Wars, but I finally saw all six. Now, it'd have to be The Godfather -- I've seen up to the horse's head at least 10x, but for some reason never made it through the whole film. I intend to eventually.
I also haven't seen Casablanca and that feels pretty embarrassing.

Ashamed I haven't yet seen anything by Orson Welles outside of "Citizen Kane" and ashamed that I didn't like "A Clockwork Orange" all that much.
The LOTR and Star Wars Series, (but im not too embarrased)
'Pulp Fiction'. Too young to see it when it came out, my friends rented it twice (!) for movie nights. First time, I had to leave for the airport before we finally got to it, and the 2nd time, my roommate had to shoo us all away to take her cat to an emergency vet visit.
I got really excited when I caught it on TV once, late at night, after a long day. Promptly fell asleep 7 minutes in, woke up in the morning, took the tape out, discovered that the ages-old vcr had mangled it beyond usability.
Coincidences?! ...yeah, most probably, yes, but I'd like to see it as a conspiracy of some kind. :)

I hate to say that I've dedicate 90 minutes of my life watching From Justin to Kelly...yet can't find the time to watch some classics like Citizen Kane or Raging Bull.
Too many too mention, but "Seven Samurai" and "The Grand Illusion" spring to mind. Especially cause my brothers owned "Seven Samurai" for over a year.
I haven't seen a single Star Wars film. Not a single one.

But my biggest shame has to be The Godfather movies (all of them... though I once randomly saw a small portion of part 2)
Other movies I saw ages ago but remember next to nothing about are Citizen Kane and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. And I own both of those as well. I should get on that.
The sad part is how many hours I've watched and rewatched every episode of Battlestar Galactica this year, instead of watching canonical films... I've really had time to see every film on my MFA cinema literacy list, and more.
I blame the BSG.

"From Justin to Kelly" is awesome. It's like "Mamma Mia!" but it's more self-aware, so it dives headfirst into the unabashed awfulness, rather than railing (unsuccessfully) against it (if that makes sense).
And to all the "Godfather" people...I'm about to make a very controversial statement, but you're not missing much. Fosse deserved the Oscar. There I said it.

There needs to be some kind of support group for all of us who've never sat through a complete Star Wars or LOTR film. It's good to know I'm not alone.
I'm renting "From Justin to Kelly" right now. I don't care if it hurts the integrity of my husband's Netflix list (Yes, he worries about the integrity of his list). I'm actually curious to see what they will recommend for us once I throw this into the mix.
The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's really embarassing, right? I always see the first 20 minutes at school on Halloween and then....school is over.

Agreed. Or much of any Godard/Truffaut and european cinema in general from the '40s/'50s/'60s. Sophie's Choice (it's DVD is hard to track down in Australia) and This is Spinal Tap are two other titles mentioned that I can concur with.
Thankfully I have seen all the Godfather movies, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane and a whole bunch of Kubrick/Kurosawa/Bergman.

The Godfathers, Citizen Kane, Requiem for a Dream, The Big Lebowski, Schindler's List.
I'm upset (though not all that embarrassed, since it's not on DVD) that I still haven't seen Greed in either the two-hour or four-hour versions. I also haven't seen nearly enough Japanese cinema outside of the Big Three (Kurosawa, Ozu, Mizoguchi) - I've seen exactly nothing by either Naruse or Oshima.
My actual biggest shame is literary: despite being an English double major in college, with a concentration in 19th Century British fiction, and taking four classes where Charles Dickens featured prominently, I've still never read A Tale of Two Cities.
Also, The Godfather is much overrated, but Part II is one of the best films of the 1970s.

Re: A Star is Born.
I know, I know. It's not that I don't want to watch it. It just doesn't feel like the sort of thing to sit down and rent. Films with a reputation as strong as that, I'd prefer to see on the big screen for my first viewing, if its at all possible. But for whatever reason (its length?) that film doesn't come around to local rep. theatres very often. The last time it played the Castro four years ago, the owners had just fired the longtime, beloved programmer and I would have had to break a picket line to enter the theatre.

As a self-professed musical lover, I am ashamed to admit that I have not seen Moulin Rouge!. However, I bought it last night and plan on watching it tonight. I'm hoping it lives up to my veryyyyyyyyyyy high expectations!
