she's awesome in Julia! she even was nominated to the Cesar in France as best actress! it was the 2nd time for a no-French-speaking actress in all Cesar history!

She's awesome in "Michael Clayton" and "The Deep End" but my first exposure to her talents was in "The Beach". Call me silly but I thought she was fierce in it; she's literally the only thing I remember about the whole movie.

An IMDb search of almost any one word movie title will almost always bring up about ten movies with the same title.
Pomme-was it Nastassja Kinski in Tess? That was an English language performance by a German actress.
the other no-french speaking actress was maggie cheung for "clean"! i love this movie! you can see the director loves his actress!

Anyone with a soft spot for Tilda (and who doesn't have one of those?) should see "Julia" ASAP. She's given free reign to be wild and brilliant. It's like, The Tilda Swinton Show. Loved it.
Not that it will ever happen, but I dream of critics awards for this performance.
I ordered the DVD from Amazon.fr because it's 138 minutes long, and Amazon.co.uk only lists the British DVD as being 130 minutes long - all of which is a problem, since the festival and theatrical print I saw ran 144. But I figured I was getting the most Julia for my dollar/Euro by going French. Hope this means I'm not missing the interview on the British DVD. (I know a lot of people felt the movie needed to be shorter, but I disagree, and not just because my life has belonged to Tilda Swinton since 1993. Nathaniel, I noticed that your Magnolia screener runs 134 minutes, which makes me nervous that the American theatrical print has been trimmed by ten minutes.)
Nick, this could just be an issue of PAL-to-NTSC. I didn't hear anything about Magnolia trimming the movie for the US.
And, technically Maggie Cheung speaks French, both in real life and in Clean. I think the rules for being nominated for a César is that the film has to have been predominantly (or close to that) produced by France.
I saw Julia and Tilda is very very good, the movie although entertaining its weird because its like youre watching 2 movies, itsl like the sequal in the same movie.
Great interview... most of its things she's said in previous interviews but it was amazing anyway. I loved the quote about the donkey!
