...you thought of this morning? And do you know why?

Me: Serenity (Maybe I had a nightmare that prompted Reaver thoughts) and Chicago (on account of last night's CZJ mania, surely). And then a little Three Faces of Eve (???)

"...And Justice for All." I just viewed it on Netflix yesterday and am in love with the fact that it was filmed in my hometown (woo-hoo, Baltimore).
oh but troy... you get lots of movies thanks to John Waters!
i only got 8 MILE really ;)
Night Flower. Well, it's going to be released in 2011, but it has been described as a terrifying romantic thriller, so it sounds pretty exciting. I was trying to figure out what it could possibly be about.
Ah, there are so many interesting films coming out in 2011...
I saw Angels in America part 2 on Saturday. I don't love it as much as everyone else seems to, but its imagery certainly sticks around.
Hairspray, the musical version. I was having nightmares about Memphis all night long and woke up to memories of a good show butchered by a film adaptation. I'm not a happy person today.
Deborah -- excited for the stage revival? I know i am. it's SUCH a stage show at its core.
OtherRobert -- the musicals do have it rough. people are always trying to bring the showtune down ;)
Nathaniel, I accept it was the season of the jukebox musical, but I refuse to believe that the book writer of All Shook Up magically learned how to plot a musical well enough to deserve Book and Musical at the Tonys. I refuse.
Victor Victoria.. and if it was too early for some Julie Andrews in my life?
Seeing Odd Man Out tonight...
Persepolis, saw it yesterday....was awesome. loved the writing but I'm not sure I like that it ended it with the jasmine flowers dialogue.
i'm all up in showtune-ville this morning, thanks to the tony's not really having any...my fair lady, gigi, victor/victoria, funny face (the first jukebox musical, imo), high society, the wiz, and cabaret
Les Trois Couleurs: Blanc, Bleu et Rouge -- at the apex of film-making. Krzysztof Kieslowski is a genius auteur/director. Zbigniew Preisner's score is a perfect complement to Kieslowski's trilogy.
Little Children. I showed it to my friend a few days before, and he disagreed with my stance that it was a dark comedy, and that the narration was integral to telling the story.
Sorry but, although it has one moment (The Stretched Panty Masturbation scene, which I also hold as the best scene) that is drop dead hilarious, Little Children is really a drama overall, being both thematically and narratively thin. Certainly fifteen minutes could have been excised with only minor trims to the beginning and end of the actual events that get celluloid time.
Fur. i watched it again last night. every single rewatch is worth it, everything about this movie is a beauty. by the way, i love that picture link!
So this is off-topic and it may have already been discussed elsewhere on the blog, but TCM is showing Splendor in the Grass tonight at 11:30 and it made me think of Nat and his Natalie Wood obsession. Apparently they've been showing her films every Monday as some sort of series that explores her career from beginning to end and seeing as how Nat loves him some Natalie, I thought I'd share. BTW Rebel Without a Cause comes on right after it.
Burlesque.
I saw Christina Aguilera on Storytellers, and she mentions how deep she got into the role and stuff. It came off as pretentious as you would probably think with the whole 'i'm so devoted to my craft' stuff, but she gave some good performances so i let her off.
I just wonder how it looks. I'm quite curious.
"The Beautician and the Beast" - because my sis kept repeating the line "A girl with a great big dowry! *snap*" last night...
