Cries & Whispers!

that was quick. y'all are way too good. I'm sensing interest in this series dying rapidly.

which is weird because people keep telling me (in person or on email) that they love it. but fewer people are guessing.

Hmmmm.

Fewer people guessing doesn't mean interest is waning. It could just be that most people just aren't prone to guessing wildly. For example for this film, I just had no clue and wouldn't even know where to start guessing. Still love the series though!

Those last few shots and last line are typically masterful. The pairing of Bergman and Nykvist spoilt us!

Well, I love the series, but by the time I see the posts they've usually already been solved and/or I haven't seen the movie anyway.

I second Ryan T. & Roark: I love F&L and my interest is consistent; I just usually haven't seen the movie or else someone guesses it first. (Or, in this case, I have seen it but don't remember the image/line.)

Still, it's great to be reminded of these openings and endings, so please keep it going and thank you for all the cinephilic fun!

i don't comment because when I get to it it's already been answered or have no clue..
but love guessing anyway!
i just feel it's counterproductive to comment if it's already been answered or writing i don't know..

My personal pick for the greatest film ever made.

Beau, my thoughts indeed!

The first time I saw Cries & Whispers it opened up exploring Bergman's work in a way I never had - having only seen a few of his ultimate classics as a much younger film-goer. It's next to The Silence for ultra Ingrid Thulin worship, too.

F&L: I sometimes don't comment 'cause so many have already - but I feel as though this is a non-negotiable permanent feature!

F&L is genius fun :)

ok. well thanks for chiming in people.

this alternates with Persona as my favorite Bergman. But in some ways it's more dear to me since it's the first Bergman I saw.

Me too: I love this series, but never guess because others have got there first! But it really is great fun - please keep 'em coming!

Don't kill me but i didn't like this movie much. I thought it was, at times, weird for no reason. Of course, i might just not get it but i did try. There were things that i liked in it, though.
