Dilemma! I am DESPERATE to watch it but I'd prefer to see it on the big screen. First screenings are meant to be special. Can I hold out for 4 more days until my scheduled screening? But it's right here and I've been waiting so long. Aaaaaaaahhhhh. I suppose it's a good problem to have.
What would you do? How strong is that self discipline of yours?

Thanks for the good news. Just today I was lamenting that our biggest theater in Wichita, KS doesn't even have a date set for 127 Hours, King's Speech or Black Swan. But the date for the premiere of Yogi Bear is on the theater's website! Arrghhh...
Wait for the theatrical experience. Black Swan is a widescreen movie. Also, I’m certain it has a lot of odd Foley effects on the soundtrack. Wait for the real thing. You have the rest of you movie watching life to see it on a monitor of some sort.

That's hard! I was lucky enough to see a screening of Black Swan, and it's awesomely terrifying on the big screen, so I suggest be patient. Of course your lucky enough to watch it all over again and obsess. For that I'm quite jealous.
Distract yourself with other movies! Go watch HP (I've heard it's quite good, can't wait to see it) or some other new release that will temporarily take your mind off it
I just saw a screening of it tonight, and I think you'll be sorry if you watch that screener first. The images are big-screen potent, and there was something even more thrilling about a full audience reacting to this film.

(And first screenings on DVD can be special-I saw Dr Strangelove for the first time on an airplane!)
Think from the point-of-view of the people who made the film. I bet if you made It you'd want people to see it in theaters first, it brings the movie experience in full effect.

The waiting is the hardest part.

I watched THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT again (third time) instead. Still plays like a dream (and plays really well at home... some movies are diminished by that).
Wait! I can't wait to know what you think of it but I don't want to be cruel. You'll enjoy it more on the big screen.
Another Black Swan package? No dead animal remnants this time? Good on the publicity/marketing team to push this film hard, early, and often to overcome the Academy horror bias. Animal Kingdom should be doing the same, even if it's just shooting out postcards with critic pulls and FYCs.
Hold strong and don't watch that DVD unless you are truly compelled to rewatch it before voting for whatever awards body you can this year.
Saw it last night. Turns out to be very divisive, lots of people loved, many more hated it.
I personally loved it but fear the Academy won't get it. Fingers crossed for A Natalie nod though, she is spectacular. (But too weird maybe?) Her crotch also deserves recognition. That thing is everywhere.

Dom: I saw it a regular (no Q&A) SAG Film Society pre-release screening at the DGA in Los Angeles. Seeing The Fighter with Q&A at the WGA this afternoon and Another Year (at the DGA, w/o Q&A) this evening.
It is, quite simply, one of the greatest films ever made.

It opens here in March, while the screener will hit the net in a week or two. I want to see it first on the big screen as much as everybody else, but I wouldn't be able to wait for four fucking months!

I would watch it! I have almost no patience. But if you can hold out do it as long as you can.
WAIT!! You have the best of both worlds because you can get your mind blown by the big screen experience then go home and watch it 100 more times straightaway! I wish I didn't have to wait until next year for my second viewing...
Yes, whine about the privilege you have to see something new TWICE weeks before the majority of the lowly viewing audience get the chance to see something once. Very smug and unseemly.
^ Anon, was that comment directed at me? I just feel it can be worse waiting to see something again because you're in the full-blown obsessive phase rather than the anticipatory phase - and I'm definitely obsessing over Black Swan! I'm in the UK so it's the rare occasion that I don't have to wait months to see a film that is being raved about online - I apologise if that came off as "smug" - I'm just an average punter who got lucky with her London Film Festival tickets.
