Abracadabra!

Excuse me but how great is this trailer? I've enthused about this movie before... as has Joe. Nice to see that our sky-high expectations haven't proved themselves for naught. Other than all the yumminess of this trailer (well cut, tantalizing glimpses of the cast, clever "three act" explanation of the films story disguised as trick exposition, etc...) I have a few questions for the readers:

1. Is Hugh Jackman going to have the best year ever --this and The Fountain.
2. Is Scarlett Johansson ever going to not be in a cool new movie (seriously ---are there five of her? Does she sleep?)
3. Will anyone even notice Ed Norton as The Illusionist with this on the way?
4. Can this get Oscar traction? You know it's going to happen for Christopher Nolan eventually.

Christian Bale *and* Hugh Jackman? I think my head might explode. Great to see Christian Bale with an English accent again. I confess I was confused at the initial photos and talk of Jackman and Johannson: aren't they in the new Woody Allen too? I must confess that I am no Scarlett Johansson fan; I am disconcerted by how the role pool has shrunken for other actresses in the last few years. No question Woody Allen has gone for the young women (ahem), but surely in this one, someone a little older would have worked as well or better than Johansson? Is it a Nolan thing (I am thinking back to Katie Holmes in Batman Begins and Hilary Swank in Insomnia)? Does he have a knack for casting actresses poorly?

it IS a little strange. as if there are no other actresses when we know there are many and even some really interesting ones...

susannah brings up a good point. I love Scarlett because she's a little kick-ass sex-pot, but her range is limited and her "English" accent sounds very light from the trailer. Thanks for sharing it, by the way. My interest level in that film just went up a few notches.

Yeah, I loved the trailer! Can't wait for the movie. The casting of ScarJo is odd because they have Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale (and Michael Caine and David Bowie!!) so it's not like she adds much star power. Maybe a lesser known could've done it. Michelle Monaghan? I dunno. But, still, a chance to see three of my faves up there together (Jackman, Bale and Johansson) is a chance taken.

And, seriously... I'll be surprised if the world doesn't spin off it's axis, the day this is released, from not only the hotness factor but also the coolness factor (DAVID FREAKIN' BOWIE!!)

Ooo, ooo! This movie looks completely terrific. I (in midOhio) hadn't even heard about it. Hooray!

The trailer's terrific but it does make the film look like it's going to spin out of control in a not-so-hot way when Bale spins off his rocker. Looking forward to it, but do not have great expectations, truthfully.

I wish I got the whole Scarlett thing. She really can't act and after a while, that isn't very hot, no matter how pouty you are.

Jackman + Bale = yum-my (thumps foot). Johansson is uber hot as well, although she has gotten herself cast in a series of sex pot roles ('Match Point,' 'The Prestige,' and 'The Black Dahlia') that do seem better suited for an older actress.

By the way, has anyone seen a trailer for 'The Black Dahlia' yet? I'm most definitely not a hard-core de Palma fan, but I'm curious to see how that one turns out nonetheless.
