Remember how much fun Stinky Lulu's blog-a-thon was last year? This year's party @ the actressing edges is just 3 weeks away. The Class of 2007. I whipped up this trailer for it. Enjoy
I still haven't decided who I'm going to write about. And you?
psssst. if you're going to participate, feel free to embed this video on your site and let your readers know you'll be joining StinkyLulu's 2007 surveying team

I haven't decided yet because I'm hoping between now and then that I get to see one performance that I feel like I need to write about like I had last year.
Oh, and smashing video!
The 1/2 second of Joan Allen has made my year worthwhile.
If I had a blog, the entire thing would be devoted to Staunton. But you give it to Kidman, she needs you!
my top 5 supp actresses are
1 - ronan - atonement
2 - swinton - michael clayton
3 - pfeiffer - hairspray
4 - weaver - the tv set
5 - sarandon - in the valley of elah
I have one performance that I'm 99% nobody else is going to write about; because not a great deal of people have seen the movie and it's not been talked about at all. So, squee!
Then there's a few others I might write about; more well known but not as lauded.
I dunno - none of the supporting actress performances that I've watched so far this year have fired me up as much as watching James Marsden's turn as Corny Collins in Hairspray. It makes me wish that there'd be a Supporting Actor Class of 2007 blogathon because he'll be passed over for awards everywhere.
My supporting actresses thus far (bearing in mind that I've yet to see Atonement, There Will Be Blood, or Sweeney Todd... I can't think of what else I've missed right yet):
1. Cate Blanchett - I'm Not There
2. Leslie Mann - Knocked Up
3. Kelly MacDonald - No Country...
4. Tilda Swinton - Michael Claton
5. Charlotte Gainsbourg - I'm Not There
I know, on my last viewing, I was all about Gainsbourg, but a second watch totally locked me in to the buzz surrounding Blanchett (maybe I've been drinking the Kool-Aid?).
Also, Kidman is hanging out just outside the Top 5... she could easily make a return, depending on my mood. I'm so glad she's back in top form this year!
I don't really have an overwhelming favorite, though Tilda Swinton is close.
I'd think Nat would do Charlotte Gainsborough (though I wasn't especially impressed... she didn't really do anything...) or perhaps a Pfeiffer double pack. I myself am loving the trend of fantasy witches and otherwise evil women dominating the year. But there are too many of them. How to choose?
Unless someone surprises me before then, Saoirse Ronan. She was stunning.
That was great!
Sam Morton is easily my personal number one. Romola Garai is up there, too. I thought she gave the best performance in Atonement, which means of course that she is getting no attention at all. *sigh* I also loved all the female performances in Diving Bell.
I want dibs on Emily Mortimer. Oh I mean that in so many ways
I have -no- frickin' idea. And that's even more weird because it seems like we'll have thirty-seven people doing each perf.
Maybe Kelly Macdonald.
Last year, I still had no idea who I was writing about until the morning of the blogathon...
I'm also actually looking forward to multiple takes on some of the key perfs (Saoirse, Swinton) but the thing I was most AMAZED by last year was how, somehow, and with no micromanaging from me, the blogathon drew no duplicates...
(And remember this is a chance to throw some love to neglected perfs - like Colin's nascent Ode to James Marsden - the kind have no chance whatsoever in getting close to the naked golden man.)
And I'm still just gobsmacked by the video, Nat. So generous and so nifty...
Sam Morton in Control was great. Pfeiffer was so. much. fun. in Hairspray. Actually, I really liked Amanda Bynes in that film too. She wasn't great, y'know, but she really went for it and I admire that.
lol, wait, so why Sutton Foster?
just cuz i love sutton foster and the song is hilarious.
this was obviously inspired by last year's commercial which used that spamalot! song as its backing "whatever happened to my part" that was choice.
so this was an ode to that video, an experiment for me on my new computer, and a prezzie for LULU.
mwah
I take it it wasn't a coincidence when Amy Ryan showed up on screen just as the song said "I don't want to show off no more"
interpret as you will ;)
Terrific video, Nat!
Ironically, watching it made me want to see I'm Not There just for Cate's turn in it. I get what you say (and totally agree) about the
"mimicry/biopic" thing, but those clips of Cate as Dylan...that just looks like another universe entirely.
And *hugs* for the Kidman love.
