this is just a rare shot of bette in between cigarettes. i've heard they exist, but this is the first time i've actually seen it.
if you squint you can probably see her just finished ciggy floating in that glass of oj.
This photo makes me sad.
Forget cigarettes, where is her cocktail? I'll just delude myself into believing that is a mimosa (or rather, champagne with just a splash of OJ), and not just orange juice.
i think someone stole her ciggies.
but i'll always prefer her waking up in all about eve with thelma ritter buzzing over her. cig lit before sitting up. that's my bette!
If it were Talullah Bankhead instead of Bette Davis we would know where the ciggy was...smoldering somewhere under the sheets, ready to burn the house down!
