First and Last ~first image after the opening credits and last image before the end credits
Can you guess the movie? (love that there's a Moulin Rouge! reference in the first pic ;) )
Highlight for the answer: THE GAY DIVORCEE (1934) an Astaire/Rogers musical

This looks like some Astaire / Rogers musical, but since I've only seen "Top Hat" from those which it certainly isn't I guess i'm pretty clueless...

Nat, when are you going to update your Oscar predictions?
I'm SHOCKED that you don't consider in the top 5 Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) and specially STANLEY TUCCI in THE LOVELY BONES. Both performances are going to be extraordinary according to the books and to the people who talk about them (for example, cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe of 'The Road', says the last shot of Kodi in the movie is ASTONISHING for the kid's reaction), or we can see (Stanley Tucci in the featurette of The Lovely Bones).
AKA Stanley Tucci has a great Hollywood career: "Prizzi's Honor", "The Pelican Brief", "Mrs. Parker and the vicious circle", "Deconstructing harry", "America's Sweethearts", "Maid in Manhattan", "The Terminal", "Robots", "The Devil Wears Prada", "Julie and Julia"...
The Virgin Meryl i'm not sure what you mean. I have had Stanley Tucci in my predictions all year. I'm a fan and the role is good.
as for Kodi I've seen the movie and he's very good in it but it's sort of a repetitive role: survive, cry, look hungry etcetera. So I'm waiting to see how it does with the general audiences (it's my belief that Oscar voters opinions are something like a middle ground between critical opinion and general public opinion) to see if it can get any traction. I have him at #9 now so I think he's definitely in the mix.
but its' really really really early.
Oops I confused Stanley Tucci with another bold actor
The Gay Divorcee. They are tipping the bell boys as they elegantly and sprightly dance out the door. I'd be dropping the change and tripping over the door jamb.
right? god to be able to dance like that. sigh...
