I feel like I've been seeing Rebecca Romijn every time I turn on the telly this month and each time I see her I think of her wondrously catty chemistry with him when they were Mystique & Magneto. They're almost the only thing I enjoyed about that awful third X-picture.
As you may have heard earlier today, Sir Ian plans to reprise his Gandalf role if*/when Guillermo Del Toro starts filming that two part feature adaptation of The Hobbit
*I'm less hopeful than others that all will go well on the legal side of these movies. Apparently the latest lawsuit was settled but doesn't it seem like legal complications *keep* arising? Plus I'm just nervous. Two movies? Why?? The Hobbit is not that overstuffed.

Did you know that his closest friends call him Sirina? Don't ask how I know that.
Oops, I didn't mean that to be anonymous.
how do you know that?
(sorry couldn't resist)
he stalks him!
Playing himself on Ricky Gervais' 'the extras'. HILARIOUS!!!
Good for Ian. I like to pretend he has an Oscar for God's & Monsters. Oh wait, he does. Don't you dare contradict me!...
PS. Nathaniel, take the quiz below to find out which classic movie star you are.

hahahahahahhahhahhha!!!
McKellan as Gandalf = Perfect!!
Sir Ian has really been kicking ass commercially these last few years. He instantly makes any film a delight.
The Golden Compass, The DaVinci Code, The X-Men movies and the Lord of the Rings!
My favorite is probably him as Gandalf.
YOU....SHALL....NOT....PASS!!!!!!!!
man, i loved him so much with that moment.
and btw, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey was the best thing about the last X-Men movie. She managed to overcome the crappy writing towards the story of the Phoenix and it was easy to see how much she reveled in that role.
I'd like to toss a bone to Richard III. It's a magnificent performance and provides a fascinating counterweight to his Gandalf and James Whale.
Definitely not Magneto. Talk about hamming it up in X Men 3
Actually they ruined the Magneto Mystique chemistry in X-3 by making him turn her back on her. God that movie makes me so frustrated. And yes 2 Hobbit films, no thanks. Apparently they want to bring back Weaving and Blanchett for the second Hobbit film. DO N'T DO IT GUYS!
I'm 50-50 on the idea of two Hobbit movies. At first I thought, how could they possibly stretch out the Hobbit that way? It's too short!
But then I got to thinking, if there was some original material added that elaborates on the appendecies of The Lord of the Rings, like Gandalf's dealings with the Necromancer (who hopefully is not a gigantic-eye spotlight this time) etc etc...it could be a nice shake-up of the Lord of the Rings story structure, which for the general movie-goer, The Hobbit might hew too closely to otherwise.
Then again, it has been almost ten years since the first one came out...
X3 is movie crack for my sould. Or chicken soup.
Seen it more times than I should admit.
i understood that the first HOBBIT film is what we know as THE HOBBIT novel
the second will narrate what happens from the end of HOBBIT to the start of the LOTR trilogy
Arkaan,
I vote for Richard III too. It's pretty flawless.
I wish I could say I know that he is called Sirina because I am one of his closest friends, but alas, i just happen to know this tidbit.
