Channing "Russell" Tatum

This just in: Channing Tatum to star in a remake of Gladiator. "That movie is so old" a studio executive whined, "Time for a reboot!" The star suggested bringing sexy (shaved head) back but producers felt his skull wasn't shaped enough like Russell Crowe's so a pseudo caesar haircut would have to do!

Actually it's a still from Tatum's 2010 release The Eagle of the Ninth. I have no idea what it's about (I have no time to read... especially when there are pretty pictures to look at!) but like Ridley Scott's Robin Hood trailer it wants to remind you of Gladiator in a big big way. Are you not entertained ........ by the bald great-by-association ploy? More pictures including a strapping Jamie Bell here.

when are you going to announce the film bitch nominees?

Ooo, Jamie Bell, how I love him. I'd cast him in everything.

The Eagle of the Ninth was actually one of my favorite books when I was about 11. It's a "young adult" book. So it's got a clear plot, quickly delineated characters and you know who to root for, and some pretty straightforward history. I never would have thought of making a movie of it.

Whoo! Freaked me out there for a second. Who would make a remake of Gladiator? I cringe at the thought of a "sequel" to Gladiator.

Just read the script a couple of months ago... Sounds entertaining enough.

Why is Hollywood trying to make Channing happen? He seems like casting couch success, and in interviews...he comes off dumb.

LOL! When I first glanced at it, I really thought it was Russell Crowe!

Channing Tatum...sorry to say he will become a victim to the typecast like Vin Deisel. But isn't he great too look at?

Not so long ago, I saw an in-theater teaser for the Starz TV series Spartacus: Blood and Sand and had exactly the same response. Good to know that the Hollywood Rip-Off Machine still continues to purr out new products so efficiently.

I hope Channing becomes the new brittney.

Has anyone noticed that brittney murphy's initials are B.M?and Heath leather starred in Brokeback Mountain(BM) and they both...

I think this Channing fad should die soon, soooo boring and conventional. I want new and exciting. I'm starting to hate him but I guess that's my problem.

Oh, and Heath-y poo was in The Dark Knight(obvi.) but does anyone know that many ppl thought that Brittney should play Harley Quin. God, if this movie is cursed I hope Christian is next. He has this asshole air about him.

Nathaniel - there's several written by Rosemary Sutcliffe. I think she's a historian. The historical background (usually Roman Britain) is accurate, understandable, easily referenced.

Glancing through them now, it's clearer that there's the about-20 hero, unjustly persecuted, unappreciated, in an unfair world. I guess that resonates with a teen age group. He finds friends, helpers, mentors. I guess the emotional core is that doing the right thing, over and over, eventually helps your good qualities to be recognized.

I'd kind of put the books in the same category as Mary Stewart or Andre Norton. Worth a read if you're a teenager (at least you'll know more history) but for an adult, the movie will probabaly be enough.

Why does Jamie Bell continue to torture me by starring in movies with these generic dullards like Hayden Christensen or Channing Tatum?
