Julianne Moore, Bird Woman

For no particular reason whatsoever, a Julianne Moore post!

Julianne may have just been snubbed by her fellow actors for a SAG nomination but the exotic animals still love her. As does her bank account.

Julianne Moore and cockatoo

Seems like she's always hawking some product. Remember Revlon and the Coach bags? Next up: Bulgari. She's worked for them before but a new campaign "eccentric charisma" is on the way. I can't even begin to summarize the press release but I must quote...
Julianne Moore's extraordinary combination of Pre-Raphaelite splendor, sharp intelligence and contemporary charisma was captured for the occasion by photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot, who chose a setting with an Oriental flavor. Opulent and richly colored as an exotic boudoir, furnished with sumptuous pillows, plush brocades, purple satin and peacock feathers, this is the frame that transforms Ms. Moore's unique beauty into a contemporary odalisque - mysterious, luminous and sophisticated. The utterly unexpected presence of exotic animals underscore her irresistible eccentricity and a temperament that defies all preconceptions.
That's what called "laying it on thick" yes? So so many adjectives. But she deserves them all.

Juli can rest easy knowing that she's still on her way to an Oscar nod. I don't see Kruger or Laurent making the shortlist (though either would be a fun surprise), and I can't imagine two of the Nine ladies making it in with the reviews the film's been getting (okay, I can imagine it; I'm just not expecting it).

I love Streep just as much as everyone else, but does she really have to be nominated twice!!? there were no other perfrormances out there up the standard. i find that hard to believe. At least give someone with no shot a chance to be nominated (Case in point Sandra Bullock)

Nat, looking at your grading system for movies, i see that no one gets above A-. Are there any films that you have given an A, or any films in all of history worty of A+?

Nat, I'm shocked you haven't mentioned her recent appearance on 30 Rock. Alec Baldwin's character has impeccable taste in women-Moore, Edie Falco, Isabella Rossellini, and Salma Hayek.

I think Moore is one of the great and has certainly revived her career. She's probably going to get an Oscar nomination, but I've always had the feeling that the her buzz was just because she is Julianne Moore and one of the most overdue, not for the performance.

I think Krüger deserved SAG nom, it was a fun surprise and one of the most "daring" by any of the bigger awards.

Also off-topic I wonder how in hell pictures like The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, Creation and even Frankie and Alice can be eligible for this years Oscar?

The two first has at least been screened, Frankie and Alice is still according to IMDB in Post-Production!!!

Chris ... Here are the recent "A"s i've given

2008 - RACHEL GETTING MARRIED
2007 - none
2006 - none
2005 - BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE
2004 - ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

I'm probably too stingy -- and i've gotten stingier as it's gone along -- but it's the way i'm hardwired. It takes me a while to think something is perfect.

John T -- i mentioned it in the comments of one of these posts ;) I did laugh A LOT at that episode.

Nat, I thought you had bumped Spider-Man 2 up to an A at some point?

High standards is different than stingy.

of course julianne moore was on the latest 30 rock episode. i think that show does NOT do a great job with its guest stars. the best lines still to go to tracy, liz, jack and kenneth.

C'mon, Nate-- Julianne Moore posts NEVER have to be justified.

So its safe to say that Rachel Getting Married, History of Violence, Brokeback Mountain, and Eternal Sunshine are going to your top 10 of the decade. What about There will be Blood and No Country for Old Men?

Drag Me to Hell a B-? Really?

NATHANIEL R said...

Or maybe a B. I think it probably needed to be seen in the theater.
