ooh, thanks E.T. LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS sneak!
i09 wonders how TV can repeat the success of Smallville. But I have to ask: why does it have to be a teen angst show? There's a million different ways of doing superheroes. Unfortunately people are only trying two of those ways. You can get away with generic at the movies while the genre is at its peak, but peaks don't last forever and if everything keeps feeling "samey" eventually people will get bored.

Finally, CHUD collects some photoshopped tomfoolery about Inception and calls it a "meme". Oh internets you confuse me. A meme used to just be a thing everyone was passing around like surveys or questionnaires or themes like blog-a-thons without the date specificity. Now apparently it's about lolcat style photo-captioning? I can't keep up internets. But some of them are funny so read the post. And this is really the last time I'm going to mention this movie (until precursor season at least) because I'm so bored with it now. Fast fade... just not enough left to the imagination so how can the imagination stay engaged?

Huh, Inception has actually been one of the few movies that have stuck with me. That and Winter's Bone.
Now I'm excited about Jake and Annie's movie. Looks like a good rom-com. Hoping it's more than that.
i'm going to do a shitty commentary but Anne Hathaway in the trailer looks alike so much Julia Roberts (iperiod "pretty woman")
Love and Other Drugs looks really nice but I don't see (and have never understood) how all the talk about its Oscar chances figures in. That little clip here doesn't look like big awards material at all.
I just have a feeling that the globes will go gaga for it and hathaway, maybe a crwning of sorts for anne and yes the julia comparissons are right on plus how sexy is jake g plus hairy mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I think exactly the same of Lara: from that trailer, "Love and Other Drugs" seems nothing but a very common romantic-comedy with good box-office traction... I can't really see how it could become an Oscar contender! And I don't understand what the Anne Hathaway buzz is all about... the best she can do is probably a Golden Globe nomination in the comedy field, but I don't see any Oscar nomination for a role like this.
Ugh, do we really need another rom-com about a suave, successful workaholic white guy who learns that the only way to be truly happy is through a committed relationship with a fantasy woman that exists only in the movies?
And that's exactly why the Oscar voters will fall for it. Residual memories of Shampoo, even though Shampoo was actually pretty insightful.
I like how the LAOD trailer is not revealing too much of the story because I've been told the film has a lot of subplots ( very unusual for a rom-com) and the disease of Anne Hathaway's character.
The official trailer for Love And Other Drugs. The film looks even more wonderful. And the chemistry between Jake and Anne is sensational.

I just snuck out from work and saw SCOTT PILGRIM. I had a WONDERFUL time!!! It's super! Very funny, unique, action-packed, and charming. It's really very clever and very appealing. Go see it!!!
The movie looks very cute, much better than I was expecting... but also much lighter. I think we all jumped the gun with Hathaway being a "sure bet."
I've seen a bunch of Inception memes going around and I'm so damn happy. THE FILM'S REACH IS SPREADING.
MWHAHAHA!
Also, I know that this pic isn't a meme or anything but you must look: http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/202/3/0/PRETTY_PRETTY_INCEPTION_by_taconaco.jpg
'is this real life?' - oh god.. i love the look of terror on that poor kid's face... hahahaha!!
That's why I pay no attention to early buzz. Last year the early buzz was The Lovely Bones was a masterpiece. ummm yeah. I'll wait for reviews before I jump the gun on Hathaway.
So "Love and Other Drugs" is this decades "Jerry Maguire" without the cute kid. I'm down to see this on opening weekend.
And everyone's right about Anne/Julia. She's always had the smile down, but now even her hair is Julia in the mid-late 90s style. That girl is gonna everywhere from now on.
Is 'Love and Other Drugs' a "rom-com"? I've heard it's not, but maybe the trailer cut to make it appear that way. Hmm...
Robert Hamer, except from what we've heard she is not a fantasy girlfriend at all.
Maybe it was because I saw it the day before a big film festival, but I haven't thought of Inception more than maybe once or twice since seeing it. Fast fade, indeed.
i truly hope and suspect that Love and Other Drugs won’t be just like that, or it’ll be really disappointing. we haven’t barely seen anything about Hathaway’s health problem, life attitude and the dark side of the world of pharmaceutical sales which has been revealed in the book. still has faith in Hathaway and the film. hope so.
i imagine since this is ET -- definitely a show that wants everything mainstream and lightweight -- that they're only pushing the most rom-comiest elements.
i'm sure there's more to the movie. why give up on its oscar prospects already due to 60 seconds of footage?
Se7en vs Willy Wonka scared me.
Se7en vs. Willy Wonka was brilliant.
I don't get the AH love, personally. She's usually, for me, the blandest memeber of the main cast and is never the VIP. I can't imagine her getting any Oscar love for this. Too many of her ounterparts have harder-hitting material coming out, most of it highly anticipated.
Sara - I feel guilty about it but I occasionally feel that way too....I think that this town is just particularly starved for decent, promising young actresses. Either way, I'm really hoping that her talent is on the rise.
Anne Hathaway's voice is changing though....huh. For the better, it seems.
I saw this movie last week at a private screening in La and I have to say that I was extremely surprised by it. Jake completely owned the part and was wonderful--and I don't really like him as an actor. Hathaway was just as good as she was in Rachel Getting Married, but can I just say how beautiful she is? Edward Zwick deserves an Oscar just for getting Hathaway completely naked for half of her time on screen...that's not a joke either.
Other than that, the writing was good but the film had structural problems. I'd call it a modern day love story set in 1996.
Hathaway and Jake are definite contenders.
I don't completely get the Julia/Anne comparison. I get the sense that Anne will have trouble getting unlikable parts... which are the best parts for actresses (Kidman, anyone ?) ! She seems incapable of negativity, I think she'll have trouble getting cast in non-cute girl type of roles. On the other hand there's something about Julia that makes one think there's a bitch hiding under that smile
josiane , did you see Hathaway in "Rachel Getting Married" ?? She proved with that role that she can portray a very unlikable character.
