I like the selection of I Am Love. While Tilda Swinton's excellent performance has understandably dominated the attention given that film, there's a lot more to it beyond her wonderful work.
Natalie Portman! Here we go.
I do wonder if this is just some residual high since it's only been out for a week and some change.
Seems front runners are emrging esp in the supporting categories it appears monster moms are the order of the day again this year with leo and weaver duking it out i think bale is a shoo in for supporting actor,i feel fincher is near a lock for director,i don't feel firth has best actor sewn up yet and maybe natalie will once again steal annettes thunder,i think the 4th 5th actress spot could go anywhere like 2003.
I am so torn between Natalie Portman and Annette Bening. How much do I have to pay the Academy for a tie?
That said, Black Swan over The Social Network in my book. The Social Network is by far the better movie, and BY FAR the better script, but Black Swan is more exciting. It feels like every frame is a risk, like every moment of the movie is on a high.
Either way though this is my favorite year for movies at least since 2007. Maybe since 2001. And that's saying something.
Taylor -- and there's still good movies coming out. Rabbit Hole is very good... and some people *love* TRUE GRIT though i'm not really one of them.
It's a fantastic year for film. Black Swan is among my favorite films of all time. The Social Network is one of the best films I've ever seen. Even "lesser" films like Please Give, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Catfish are incredibly good. What started as an astoundingly weak year really picked up.
Glad to see Kim Hye-Ja get some recognition. Mother is such a terrific film!!
