Used to be a Redhead

Extremely Random Pre-Coffee Thought of the Morning: I miss Nicole's fiery hair. All these movies coming out and she looks so blonde or brunette in all. I've never understood why the redhead stars (and there aren't many of them) downplay it since they naturally stand out from the sea of Hollywood blondes ... and shouldn't they want to?

Living in London I know the answer to that question. Red Heads, or "Ginger' (like King with a 'g') as they are called have a heard time.
They are teased, thought of as ugly and we have all heard the "yuck, ginger pubes" comment. Most actresses are insecure beings and may not want to stand out.
Plus blonde is the hair colour of success in hollywood.
But I agree, nothing like a flaming red head.

She was never a real redhead.
By the way, have you noticed that there are no pics of Pfeiffer at the Hairspray premiere at justjared but pics plenty of extremely fat-looking people ? is it some site for insecure women ?
Is it because she's 49 ? Let me get that straight. She's more attractive at 49 than ALL the other girls at the premiere.

anonymous --really? never a real redhead but on purpose for the first 15 years of her career? odd.

maybe pfeiffer wasn't at the premiere on the hairspray blog it looks like they're bringing out the big guns (travolta & pfeiffer) for the last week of promotion. she's doing a few talk shows next week.

I've always thought that dark hair looked better than blonde and I still do.

I miss the days when she was red headed and healthy looking....now she's blond and looks anemic

There isn't nearly the same stigma attached to red hair in the US as there seems to be in the UK. I figure it's more of a personal preference rather than any insecurities.

The real redhead I miss? Lindsay Lohan circa 2004.

Pfieffer was at the premiere, and was as stunning as ever.

yeah, kidman as a redhead is much better. i swear, now her white blonde hair just blends into her skin. sorta like when jessica alba tries to have blonde hair, but it comes out that goldish orange color... you just can't tell where the forehead stops and the hairline starts. pisses me off.

I'd love to see Nicole in her "Moulin Rouge!" era hair color again. Sigh.

I have also heard the whispers about Nicole not being a real redhead. I forget where, but they seemed credible, as I recall. I also prefer her red hair, though.

Fake blonde hair really does look bad. You can't fake the natural highlights and layers of sunkissed blonde hair.

Listen, I can't deal with this. I was cocktailing it with some pals and the convo obviously went to famous redheads. Sure: Julianne Moore, Ann-Margret, Marcia Cross, Lindsay Lo, Molly Ringwald, Lucille Ball, Debra Messing, NIKKI K?!?

WHAT? Gasped, my friends...she's no redhead.

Two days later I read in some trash rag about how she claims she's a natural blond and dyed her hair for all those years. Palllease! I can't even deal.

XOXO

Firstly, Nicole looks about 10 in that picture. It actually suits her - softens her a bit.

Secondly, I think the blonde looks so natural on her - almost as if she was a natural blonde. She's lucky in that she work all three shades.

EDIT: *can* work all three shades.

Another case of interesting "redhead or not" is Gillian Anderson. She's actually a natural blonde, but dyed her hair red to make her look OLDER so she'd be more suitable to the role of an FBI agent with a medical degree. After The X-Files, she went back to her natural blonde. She looks great as both, but it's like she hasn't aged a day in ten years.

Gillian Anderson is HOT.

The Nicole thing is weird, cause I've heard she's not a natural redhead, but then I've also heard those interviews where she claims she grew up in Australia as a pale redhead when the beauty standard was tan and blonde and how she felt like an outcast. I don't get it. It did seem as though her Dead Calm look would've been her natural look, but who knows.

And she looks totally plastic in that photo. Had to be airbrushed. I'm not liking it.

Cynthia Nixon is another who has said she's a natural blonde who died it red for a part. In her case, to balance out the blondes and brunette in Sex/City.

True. I loved Nicole's red curls. I wish she'd wear it that way again. There are too many blondes in Hollywood!

If you look in Days of Thunder she has freckles like a natural redhead. Being one myself I know the two go hand in hand. Now notice she has no freckles, she obviously did the skin bleaching like Michael Jackson. Freckles just dont disappear.

FRECKLES FADE OVER TIME BECAUSE I USED TO BE COVERD IN FRECKLES AND NOW I HARDLY HAVE ANY THY FADE AS YOU GET OLDER SO EVA HER FRECKLES HAVE FADED OR SHE HAS BEEN AIRBRUSHED OR MAYBE THEY WER MAKE UP IN THE FILM

Nicole's natural hair color is a very ashy, mousy, dirty blond. Because she is so fair, she should stay away from very light shades of blond, as they wash her face out.

Nicole is a natural redhead, but her hair starting to turn gray in her thirties, so she started dying it blonde to blend in with the gray. You can tell from some photos of her with gray roots along her temples and hairline.
