I'm in a horrid mood so rather than bore you with whiny details, I thought I'd force a new silly meme into the blogosphere. I'm pushy and community-oriented like that. Enough with the book memes, ipod shuffles, and god knows what else. MOVIES! I'm tagging the following ten humanoids to answer this bakers dozen of movie-related questions on their own blogs.
Arden, JA, Catherine, Jeffrey, Nick, Javier, Glenn, Rob, Nova, and RC
After which they should tag at least 3 more people to answer it.

oh my god, i love you. this'll be so much fun when I'm actually awake (I only woke up 10 minutes ago and it's 3pm. eep)
The other week when I was seeing The Devil Wears Prada at the cinema, we started to hear this woman talking a few seats down. Just saying things like "Yes." "Uh-uh." "Meryl Streep" and we thought she must've been one of those people who are sick and say things randomly. And then a few minutes after doing this she stood up and walked past us holding a mobile phone. We were like "!!!!" and then she came up and started telling her friend all about her phone call.
It was ridiculous.
how come there hasn't been any talk about Inland Empire?!?!!? Or have I just missed it?
Yeah, I would like to know that, too.
i haven't had the opportunity to see it yet.
oh and if you don't have a blog and got no chance o' being tagged, feel free to answer any of the questions right here in the comments.
Popcorn
Elizabeth
Grace Kelly loses to Judy Garland--obviously.
Cary Grant's grey suit, North by Northwest
Indiana Jones 4ever
Kate Winslet, Lauren Graham, Ewan McGregor, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep. Just my kind of people. And they're eating spaghetti.
Heckling and miffed sounds.
Ripley.
The spiders in Arachniphobia. Forever will haunt me.
Dramedy (not James L. Brooks)
Kate Hudson, and Matthew McConneghey, and Tom Cruise will not work for a year, while I find Annette Benning's Oscar role. Bonnie.
i love the "obviously" after Kelly & Garland. So true. just a travesty.
and you're also trying to find Bening's Oscar role: god bless!
Thanks. That was fun.
It was!
Since nobody ever reads my blog (cause I never update it anyway, and just use it to pimp my OscarWatch columns) I'll respond here... a few days late, but I've been busy...
Popcorn or candy?
Both, since I like to put peanut M&Ms in popcorn.
Name a movie you've been meaning to see forever.
The 400 Blows
You are given the power to recall one Oscar: Who loses theirs and to whom?
Costner loses director Oscar to Scorsese.
Steal one costume from a movie for your wardrobe. Which will it be?
Any one of Marilyn's seemingly see-through dresses from Some Like it Hot, because I think they'd look good on me (though no, not as good as they looked on her!)
Your favorite film franchise is...
Lord of the Rings
Invite five movie people over for dinner. Who are they? Why'd you invite them? What do you feed them?
Off the top my head, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, Ian McKellen (because I worship them and I think they'd be interesting and have something to say)...I wouldn't cook, we'd order take-out.
What is the appropriate punishment for people who answer cell phones in the movie theater? Scalping?
Choose a female bodyguard: Ripley from Aliens. Mystique from X-Men. Sarah Connor from Terminator 2. The Bride from Kill Bill. Mace from Strange Days
Oh crap, that's tough. I LOVE all of these women. I think I'd have to go with Mace though, because I had a crush on that character...
What's the scariest thing you've ever seen in a movie? Dubya reading to children while NYC and DC are under attack and STILL getting re-elected.
Your favorite genre (excluding comedy and drama) is? Fantasy comes to mind, though outside LOTR not that impressive... I'll say more broadly, action.
You are given the power to greenlight movies at a major studio for one year. How do you wield this power? I wouldn't want that kind of power... I mean, I'd hope that I'd pick more original projects, but I think sometimes what looks good on paper (to greenlight) can't work in reality.
Bonnie or Clyde? Clyde.
Well I really love this particular meme so apologies now for this will be long:
1. Popcorn or candy?
Popcorn
2. Name a movie you've been meaning to see forever.
More like meaning to finish: Bette Davis’s Dark Victory
3. You are given the power to recall one Oscar: Who loses theirs and to whom?
Wow that’s tough. As in from ANY category? I'll just go for actress. I really want returned are Cher’s Moonstruck and Jodie Foster’s The Accused Oscars to be given to Glenn Close for her work in Fatal Attraction and Dangerous Liaisons, Julia Roberts’s Erin Brockovich for Ellen Burstyn’s work in Requiem For a Dream, Sally Fields’s Norma Rae award for Bette Midler’s performance in The Rose as well as Gwyneth Paltrow’s Shakespeare in Love Oscar to Cate Blanchett’s Elizabeth, that’s not even counting the slew of Golden Age Hollywood Oscars we’d like to “reassign.” I’ll go small this time and take back one that irritates me a great deal: Renee Zellweger’s Cold Mountain Oscar and give it to who really deserved it, Shohreh Aghdashloo and her work in House of Sand and Fog. There!
My Academy Award “Give It Back, You Bitch!” List Actress Edition:
Cher for Moonstruck
Jodie Foster for The Accused
Sally Fields for Norma Rae
Gwyneth Paltrow for Shakespeare in Love
Julia Roberts for Erin Brockovich
Barbara Streisand for Funny Girl
Renee Zellweger for Cold Mountain
Grace Kelly for The Country Girl
Jessica Lange for Blue Sky
Judy Holiday for Born Yesterday
Ginger Rogers for Kitty Foyle
Estelle Parsons for Bonnie and Clyde
Jennifer Connely for A Beautiful Mind
4. Steal one costume from a movie for your wardrobe. Which will it be?
Christian Bale’s suit in his last scene with Scarlett Johansson from The Prestige is the latest outfit that I want for myself but one that I would like to preserve is this particular piece (though I can’t wear it of course): http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/
Maatreiya/cruelmarquis.jpg
5. Your favorite film franchise is...
The Aliens Quadrilogy is always a good choice but I have to give it up today to Lars Von Trier’s Golden Hearts Trilogy
6. Invite five movie people over for dinner. Who are they? Why'd you invite them? What do you feed them?
Geoffrey Rush, Matt Damon, Ryan Philippe, Glenn Close & Bette Midler. My favorite living actors (apologies to Cate Blanchett but we only had room for one Oscar-winning Aussie unfortunately). I’d invite them for wine and a séance where we’ll try to contact my favorite actors who have passed on such as Humphrey Bogart, Peter Sellers, Katharine Hepburn & Bette Davis.
7. What is the appropriate punishment for people who answer cell phones in the movie theater?
Tossing their phone at the movie screen so that when they run to retrieve it, we can all boo together to tell them to sit down and get away from the screen while their silhouette frantically gets muddled over whether to keep on searching, run back to their seat or get out of the movie theatre entirely.
8. Choose a female bodyguard: Ripley from Aliens. Mystique from X-Men. Sarah Connor from Terminator 2. The Bride from Kill Bill. Mace from Strange Days
Mystique as we can form our own moral code. Ripley might get too emotional if we come across a little girl, Sarah Connor I can’t see putting in a whole lot of effort unless I say her son is also threatened, The Bride is too “warrior’s code” for me and sorry but I don’t know Mace.
9. What's the scariest thing you've ever seen in a movie?
Some scenes from Kurosawa’s Dreams got to me as well as the ending sequence from Carrie which caused a lot of sleepless nights but for long lasting effect, I’d say the moon turning bloody from The Seventh Sign. I still keep looking at the moon because of it.
10. Your favorite genre (excluding comedy and drama) is?
The Ensemble Whodunnit (see: Gosford Park, Murder On the Orient Express, Death On the Nile, Clue, Murder by Death)
11. You are given the power to greenlight movies at a major studio for one year. How do you wield this power?
Gwyneth Paltrow & Renee Zellweger movies won’t be receiving the greenlight at all for starters. :) For seconds, no movies that rely on CGI! And third, more costume & ensemble pieces. (Yes, my favorite award aside from supporting awards is the best ensemble award.)
12. Bonnie or Clyde?
Warren Beatty, I mean, Clyde.
Really enjoyed answering that!
