As if things weren't high pitched enough in this 'Week of the Bat', Christian Bale, the Dark Knight himself, was held for police questioning today on charges of assault... against his own family. And we thought the whole Dark Knight saga couldn't get any creepier.
More @ the Guardian --You'll be hearing more about it, I'm sure. News broke this morning officially. Here's more @ Yahoo and In Contention has been updating, too.

Clearly this all just needs to stop. No further good can come of it.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Christian Bale had a touch of the crazy in him. He was just too good in American Psycho for it all to be fake. Plus, there's his bizarre desire to gain and lose dozens of pounds at a time from role to role. And he's always just seemed a little actorily unhinged. As it were.
Kind of like Heath. Sigh.
I haven't even seen this film yet, and I'm already over it.
And if I were prone to making incredibly inflammatory, insensitive, inappropriate, ill-advised comments (which I apparently am today) I'd say maybe Christian were lashing out over his feelings of inadequacy over Heath getting all the attention.
"Where's MY oscar nom!?"
(inappropriateness over. now.)
I want to clear this up before you all blow it out of preportion.
Christian Bale has yet to be charged with any crime, he has been accused of VERBALY not PHYSICALY assaulting his mother and sister. He voluntarily reported to a London police station and assisted police with questioning, after which he left on his own without being charged.
Just wanted to make that clear before everyone assumes the worst and blows this thing out of preportion.
People.com story included a statement from Bale’s attorney and a denial of the allegations from the actor:
“Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister,” the star’s lawyers said in the statement. “Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale.”
Kris Tapley:
And personally, I feel like headlines such as “Did Batman beat up his mother and sister? , while accurate on the face (in so far as the question), and certainly controversial, are somewhat disrespectful.
well i didn't blow anything out of proportion myself I used a question mark... did not use an inflammatory headline like Cinematical (jesus christ... their standards over there. blah) and said that the story was still developing.
i wish bale and his family well obviously and hope that whatever situation arose (obviously SOMETHING bad went down) gets cleared up.
Really? I never would have guessed it. Even if that scraggly, homeless, yet totally sexy beard is a dead give-away.
