Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to visit the local cinema to check out RED. There's just something so amazing that accompanies Dame Helen Mirren when she says, "We kill people, darling." That and the thought of Mary-Louise Parker actually being in a film were the main selling points for me. As far as Jackass 3D goes, I'll pass on it.
In more positive news, I might be getting a new dog this weekend.
Nothing, too busy. but you got me wanting to look at BOOGIE NIGHTS again, especially cause I bought the special edition DVD years ago, and never watched it.
Mad Men season finale. Duh.
If I have time on Saturday, we'll see either RED or Social Network.
The Social Network, as it's finally come out in the UK. I'm there for study abroad, and goddamn, this whole delayed release date thing is bullshit. Black Swan won't be here until February... augh.
And -- of course! -- Mad Men.
I think I'm doing Red on Tuesday to get my Helen Mirren fix. I even have people to go with me as apparently some think the draw of the film is non-stop action. Fools.
This weekend, I'm watching Night of the Hunter. Maybe The Mummy if I'm in the mood.

RED & Jackass 3D
Saturday is International Home Movie Day, where people can bring in old reels of home movies for a public screening, so I'm planning on checking that out. (Blatant plug time, but you can check here to see if anyone's hosting an event near you: http://www.homemovieday.com/locations.html)
Otherwise, it's kind of a slow weekend? I feel like I'm caught up on most things worth seeing right now, except maybe "The Town".
I want to see Jackass 3D. There, I said it. (Really, I have said it many times).
I wont be going to the theater this weekend, but I do have "The King of Comedy" and "Children of Paradise" arriving from Netflix. I've been a Scorsese binge lately, trying to catch up with all his minor fare (Boxcar Bertha, After Hours, New York, New York, etc.)I watched "Who's That Knocking at my Door" last night...amazing.
A bottle of whiskey. And then maybe Days of Wine and Roses on DVD.
Will be seeing The Night of The Hunter in Two Weeks for the second time. And Pope: The King of Comedy is not "minor fare." Lighter than Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, yes, but still vital. (Mid-range fare, comparable to Goodfellas, Casino and The Departed.)
I am watching the A-team on DVD. I dont have that high expectations on it. haha

I will see THE TOWN, Luc Besson's new film ADELE BLAIN-SEC and (for the second time) golden palm thai winner UNCLE BOONME directed by the very very interesting and talented Weerasethakul
LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. Saw LET ME IN, loved it, so now I'm checking out the original.
'Never Let Me Go' is finally here, so I'll probably check it out. Maybe 'The Social Network', also. I am also likely to rewatch 'The Hurt Locker' this weekend.
Might try to get to CARLOS, which i recorded off of Sundance this week.
Tonight: Vertigo in theatres.
Tomorrow or Sunday: Toy Story 3. Not on 3D. Finally.
Gonna visit Pather Panchali and Sunrise for the first time at the Lightbox. Also, perhaps Trigger, which is a Canadian film by one of our better directors, Bruce McDonald.
Zodiac is on TV tonight, so I will definitely be watching that. And I should watch one of the DVDs I bought lately, but I have this strange urge to watch 28 Days Later...

Never Let Me Go finally came here this weekend, so that's up first! Soul Kitchen and Waiting for Superman came out too, so I'll try and squeeze them in!
Just got back from seeing NOWHERE BOY. Solid, but not spectacular. Especially liked Anne-Marie Duff.
It's Kind of a Funny Story, and either Waiting for Superman or Nowhere Boy.

I'm watching both of them for the first time, so it should be fun.
I saw RED last week and pretty much loved it, but it needed more Mirren and Freeman.
Mary-Louise Parker was hilarious though.
I haven't been out to the movies in a few weeks, so this Sunday I'll see some combination of Social Network, Never Let Me Go, Incendies and My Soul to Take.
Lost my "The Rocky Horror Picture Show EXPERIENCE" virginity last night. Had fun, but it was still something I could have gone through life without and not missed. It's a masterpiece of wackiness and camp, no doubt, but what exactly is it about it that inspires so much slavish devotion as that everyone knows every exact movement of every character? It was my second time watching TRHPS (first was on DVD) and I even found it a bit tedious second time around.
Nathaniel, that's exactly why I'm watching. It's scramble time on the Halloween builds and I won't have time after today to re-watch Night of the Hunter before November. That and I've hit a long streak of awful films and must watch something I know is good.
On Friday, I caught "It's Kind of a Funny Story" and "Nowhere Boy." (I agree with Tab about Anne-Marie Duff.)
Today, it will probably be "Buried" and the Québec film "Route 132."
Tomorrow, I'd really like to drag my best friend off to see "Inception," which he hasn't seen yet. If he's not available...maybe "Secretariat" or "Catfish"...but neither of them sound that interesting.
I'm gonna see The Temptation of St Tony in a few hours at the BFI. Expectations...
I just watched "Never Let Me Go" today w/a friend who had also read the novel over the summer. OK movie, which I thought would have more of an effect.
Planning to finally see "Easy A" tomorrow.
I also want to see "Lovely, Still" a second time, since once you know what happens on first viewing, Martin Landau has said in an interview watching it a second time is a whole different experience.
