Daryl, Reese, Chloe, and Drew...

The countdown is progressing. The next batch of actresses (#40 to #31) to have warmed the cockles of my jaded moviegoing heart in the past 5 years range in age from a luscious 26 (Ludivine Sagnier) to a still rockingsexy 59 (Susan Sarandon), from comedic powerhouses (Parker Posey) to dramatic showstoppers (Marcia Gay Harden), from anonymous (Celia Weston) to superstardom (CZJ) Check them out and discuss. The Top 30 is just days away.

Man, our lists sure would look sorta similar! But I'm still gonna do this!

I know it's shameful, but i love Parker Posey in Scream 3. Like, I think she really understood what they were trying to do with that movie (make a comedy spoofing the very franchise that spoofs horror movies). But, yes, Best In Show is her crowning moment. The chew toy scene could play on an endless loop in heaven and I wouldn't mind one iota.

Oh, and was The Prize Winner really that bad? Poor Julianne...

Yeah, as much as I love Julianne, she's been making some really bad choices lately. Choosing projects has never been her strong point... really, I feel like if she's not being wooed by one of her regulars who know just what to do with her (Anderson, Haynes, et al), she's kind of lost, really, as far as choosing roles. Very hit and miss. Though I guess it's not her fault if somebody screws up something that looked good on the page. But scripts usually tell you a lot...
That said, she may just be choosing mainstream type things now that will bring in the $ and make her more recognizable to the average moviegoer. But there've gotta be better mainstream projects going her way...

adam -agreed on Julianne's choices. which is strange because for some time she seemed really smart about this sort of thing.

even though the synopsis of one of her new sci-fi films sounds dreadful though it might be excellent. Alfonse Cuaron directs so...

I think her newfound happiness is at fault. Happiness kills great art every time. Damn her beautiful busband and children and beautiful loft in NYC where she can lounge around and think "hmm, what great new piece of modernist furniture can I buy with that $3 million I made on Prizewinner?". She's getting spoiled. Oh well.

Re. the latest additions to the actress list, I'm a bit bewildered with your use of the CZJ comment. Wondering why she's placing quite highly on the list, when the description talks about how limited she is.

I'm not questioning the quote per se, I'm just curious to know if there's much loving there?

Glenn -it's not shameful to love the Posey in anything.

Adam -furniture comment. priceless.

Rob -re: CZJ. I guess it's more about potential for loving that it is actual loving. I thought she was grade A in Chicago (made the whole movie for me) and also enjoyed her a huge amount in High Fidelity and Intolerable Cruelty. but most of the time. Meh... but she ranks high because a) she works a lot b) she's a fun celebrity and c) when she's 'on' and correctly cast she's kinda super. but I can go either way on her which means the kinda love could easily become hate should she make the wrong choices ;)
