Coming Soon... Terminator Salvation Discussion

Sorry, I've been absent today. Katey and I were experimenting with a vodcast (This just in: It's posted). It's really just us testing the camera and ourselves and talkin' bout killer robots.

Did you see Terminator 4 this weekend or are you going the DVD route?

Vodcast! Sounds great. Had my Salvation screener Monday and found the film a boring mess with no narrative drive or tension whatsoever.

That said, seeing Rudo y Cursi Saturday, so yay that.

No way will I be seeing it...though they might have vested my interests somewhat had they not cut out Bale's rant : )

On Saturday I'm rewatching The Terminator for the first time in a theatre. Sunday I'll be having people over to rewatch Judgment Day. Monday if I'm feeling masochistic I'll be rewatching Rise of the Machines. Tuesday I finally see Salvation.

I don't think I quite understand all the respect and love the Terminator franchise has been getting this week on the FEB. I mean, they were OK popcorn flicks, but I don't think any of them were of lasting quality. And from what I hear about the new one, well... I don't think we're going to be changing any trends on that anytime soon. I don't know if anyone else feels that way, maybe it's just me. Not a Terminator person.

Damn! We don't get Terminator 4 here for another 3 weeks!

That said I will be taking my dad out to the movies for his birthday... I'm hoping we can avoid Angels and Demons and go straight to Good which is this weekend's new release (along with Night at the Museum 2 which is another one I have nooo intention of setting my feet in!). I just saw the Reader last night (finally) so figure this would be a good companion piece (plus: Viggo Mortensen!!!)

I'll be going in the "not seeing it at all" route.

I saw Terminator Salvation and actually quite enjoyed it. The ending really sucked but I kind of like them forging their own path independent of the formula so perfected by James Cameron. It did seem to be lacking some mythology and depth but it still kept my attention the entire time and had great action sequences.

On a side note, my friend and I kept being reminded of many other movies while watching Salvation: Spiderman 3, Mission Impossible, War of the Worlds and Transformers to name a few.
