Don't forget that Spielberg is producing Flags of our Fathers. The bait goes deeper than just Eastwood and Haggis.
I think I was incredibly underestimating on Flags of Our Father but as you say, THREE Haggis years in a row? THREE Eastwood years out of four? That's tough for even the best of people.
And I still just can't get into the groove of All The King's Men. I just can't. And I haven't even seen the original. All last season I was thinking "it's not gonna hit big" and for the moment, I'm sticking with that for this season.
Sony has such a good bunch this year though! New ones by Coppola, Almodovar, Zwigoff, Holofcenter, Taymor + Running with Scissors and Stranger Than Fiction which sound good (despite me not liking any of Marc Fosters previous directed movies)
BTW, Focus' Opal Dream is an Australian movie. I'm looking forward to it because it stars Vince Colosimo and Jacqueline MacKenzie and I'll see anything with those two in it in a second!
I already predict Meryl Streep to get a Golden Globe nomination for The Devil Wears Prada.
I already posted my predictions on my blog a couple of weeks back. It was fun but sooo inconsequential.
Please do not forget Kidman and Winslet!!!
PLEASE!
Lots of promising comedy/musicals this year... Prarie, Dreamgirls and FYC already look strong for globe nods... and of course there's Cars, Marie Antoinette, Running With Scissors, As You Like It... nice nice slate this year. I hope oscar will be forced to recognize more comedy this year, like it was last year in best actress.
I think that once we find out who the distributor for Goya's Ghosts will be then we will see it take off as high in the list of contenders. Many already have it way up on their lists. They are probably working on getting the best possible distributor for the film.
In my predix I have it competing in a few categories but not overwhelmingly so.
Surprised Nat didn't really mention Flushed Away, considering it's from Aardman.
I'd never really heard of this Picturehouse company but with Fur and Prairie I'm liking them already.
God, can I just say right now that I hope in 1000 hopes that Lindsay Lohan is so super-great in one of her movies this year (Prairie, Bobby and Chapter 27 among others maybe) that she gets an Oscar nod. That'd be bliss.
Show us yer tits!
I don't see Lindsay ever getting an oscar nom, really... maybe it's her name... her name will always sound teeny bopper-y, even long after the teen films are behind her. Abvious alliteration = a bad idea.
*Obvious
Don't get me wrong, though, I think she's very talented... but she just has LOTS working against her, awards-wise. A globe is easier to see.
Really? I always thought she had an older-sounding name. Like, it's a name that when she's older won't sound stupid. Like Hilary Duff. Can you picture a 60-year-old woman names Hilary Duff? lol. Lindsay I can see.
Besides, if the Academy can reward someone like CHER with a statue, I don't think Lindsay has anything to worry about. If she really starts to become an ACTRESS then she'll get a nod eventually.
your date are always wrong. why do you put deadlines if you dont stick to it?
sorry my english
Maybe I'm just annoyed by alliterative names. See Flags of Flathers post on my blog.
